Garmin Adds ‘Menstrual Cycle Tracking’ Support à la Fitbit To MANY Of Its Watches.
Though developed for the just announced Garmin Forerunner 945, the ‘Menstrual Cycle Tracking‘ feature is going to be available across many of Garmin’s mid- to high-end devices including some other Forerunners, Vivoactive 3 & Fenix 5 (Plus).
‘Menstrual Cycle’ is tracked using body temperature so your watch has to have a temperature sensor. That is the gating factor.
This feature has been on new Fitbits as of about October 2018. I got my wife to test a Fitbit Charge 3 with this feature last year and she was suitably impressed.
Though I just updated my Garmin Connect to the requisite 4.18 version, which has this feature, I don’t get to see it because my gender is set as ‘male’. No, I am NOT going to change that. But, from what I see, Garmin appears to offer more ‘note taking’ and ‘annotation’ options, e.g., you can record outbreaks of acne.
I know that many females will welcome this feature and put it to good use. So, I am glad.
Also, (as a Garmin shareholder to boot) I am glad that they did not restrict this to just the new Forerunner 945.
So, a good day for us Garmin owners.
