I Ordered A ‘Canon EOS RP’ Camera With The RF 24-105 F/4 L IS USM Lens From Amazon/Cardinal Camera.

So, I finally did it! I ordered a Canon EOS RP full-frame, mirrorless camera to replace the Sony a7 II (which was also full-frame and mirrorless) that I sold, on eBay, a few weeks ago.

After much soul-searching I had decided that the Canon EOS RP, despite not having In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), is the best camera for I since all the lenses I plan to get have built in Image Stabilization (IS). I like the lenses that Canon has or plan to have over those available by Nikon for the Z6.

Right now I only ordered the RF (i.e., mirrorless mount) 24-105m f/4 L IS USM lens. People rave about it and it fits into my preference for zooms.

I ordered it, as a bundle, from Amazon — the bundle supplied by ‘Cardinal Camera‘. I have bought cameras and lenses from Cardinal in the past with good luck. So, I am keeping my fingers crossed.

I hadn’t actually planned to order today. I was going to wait until mid-week. Then I saw that it wasn’t 2-Day Prime. So, to be on the safe side I pulled the trigger.

The bundle comes with the EOS RP grip and the ‘EF-EOS R’ mount adapter. So, that is quite the deal. Good price.

I am NOT going to get many lenses this time around. At most 4, most likely 3. The next is going to be the affordable and highly-rated RF 35mm f/1.8 Macro IS.

Note both lenses have ‘IS’. This was the only reason I was able to justify getting the Canon EOS RP.

‘Vetco’, Dog Vaccinations, At ‘Petco’ — Convenient Enough, Not Sure About Actual Savings.

by Anura Guruge

Given that she gets the dogs groomed at Petco, Deanna gets all sorts of e-mails and offers from them. One that she got recently was for Vetco — pet vaccinations at Petco.

Both dogs, Maya & Braxton, needed vaccinations. So, we decided to try them because they claimed to be cheaper.

Well, we went to the Sunday, April 14, 2019 clinic at our local Petco in Rochester. We got there about 12:45. Registration was easy enough though it could have been quicker if it was done on a proper PC screen as opposed to a 9″ tablet.

For a full complement of shots, including a rabies booster, it was $99 per dog. I am not sure how much of a saving that was. I just can’t remember.

One other thing bothers me. The rabies booster was only for 1-year. My previous one was for 3-years. To be fair they only charged $10 each for the rabies. But, that is something else I want to investigate.

But, overall a decent, positive experience. Convenient enough. There were 7 others ahead of us, but they saw us within 20-minutes or so. The vet was pleasant and appeared to be competent. Well, we now have another year before we need to worry about shots for the dogs again.

Sunday Deliveries By Amazon — WHY? Didn’t Ask For It. Just Straight Prime 2-Day.

by Anura Guruge

For the second Sunday in a row we had an Amazon delivery via USPS.

Strange.

Never asked for Sunday, or even 1-day delivery.

Just ordered them ‘2-day’ Prime — given I am a Prime Member of longstanding.

Kind of funny. Shortly after I placed the orders it showed SUNDAY delivery. So, they are planning for it.

I am sure the USPS is not complaining. Spoke to the delivery person today. He seemed quite happy. He is getting paid.

But, why?

Doesn’t make sense.

And as a AMZN shareholder (also of longstanding) this bothers me, though, OF COURSE, I cannot complain about the ROI I have got from AMZN. Smile.

‘Hampton Beach’, New Hampshire, On Crutches — April 13, 2019.

Anura Guruge on crutches on Hampton Beach New Hampshire

It was supposed to be 70°F at the beach (viz. Hampton Beach), so we went. It actually got up to 74°F. Brilliant day. Looks like the one and only day of Spring 2019 in New Hampshire.

Wasn’t sure whether I could walk on the sand in crutches. Wasn’t a problem. Piece of cake — actually.

3-more days on crutches. Will be glad to ditch them.

We discovered this magical place, serendipitously, when we visited ‘Hampton Beach‘ on New Year’s Day 2019. It was open and it looked very welcoming. And you couldn’t beat its ‘Ocean View’ location. We were blown away. Great food. Very nice, helpful couple running it. A great experience. Made our Day — and it was our Wedding Anniversary.

We definitely wanted to go back. And we did, on Saturday, April 13, 2019.

After what has been a lousy, cold and miserable Spring, the temperature was supposed to shoot up to 70°F on Saturday — with blue skies at the coast. We decided to go to Hampton Beach again and eat at “Jumpin Jack’s Java“. Sure glad we did so.

Another outstanding experience. We had salads and Teischan a ham & cheese sandwich. The food was beyond plentiful, well prepared & yummy. Attractively priced too.

As we had done previously we were lucky enough to get a window seat overlooking the beach. It does NOT get any better than that.

The couple that run it (and own it too) are SPECIAL. Very personable and pleasant. They work hard. Judging from the memorabilia on the wall and the flag they fly he is an ex-Marine (or they have a son or sons in the Marines).

Great place. Very warm and welcoming. Bright and airy.

Very generous too. As we were leaving they gave us a container of free muffins! That was awfully nice of them. Made our day again.

It really got up to 70°F. There were people sunbathing in bikinis. It was a nice day at ‘Hampton Beach’.

Please try out “Jumpin Jack’s Java”. You will thank me for telling you about this exceptional place.
