‘Amzafit Verge’ & ‘Garmin Fenix 5 Plus’ Side-By-Side On My Wrist.

by Anura Guruge

Yes, I finally managed to get an Amazfit Verge — yesterday. Today, I got around to unpacking it. Yes, this is still with the protective cover on it. You can see the little flap at the bottom with the red line.

I am still in the process of setting it up. Alas, it wasn’t as straightforward as I had hoped. For a start the Amazfit APP does not work with Android 9 — as in my trusty Google Pixel 2! That did not amuse me much. I had to install the APP on a Tablet. That worked. After that it was fairly straightforward sailing. Connecting to Wi-Fi was a breeze and downloading a new software update was pretty easy.

I haven’t started wearing it on my wrist as yet. Will do so shortly.

Yes, I will keep YOU posted. It is very light. WOW.

First ‘Apple’, Then ‘Withings’ & Next ‘Google’ Offering A Smartwatch With On-Demand ECG/EKG Heart Monitoring.

by Anura Guruge

Click to access the ‘Verge’ original.

Click to access the ‘Verily’ Website.

Verily‘, launched in 2015, is a subsidiary of Alphabet (i.e., Google). It focuses on life sciences and healthcare. So, it makes sense that Google is getting them to spearhead this ECG initiative.

This is a concept watch for now, NOT available to the consumer.

But, we all know where it is going. It is no secret that Google will announce a ‘Pixel’ smartwatch, later in 2019, to compete with Apple, Fitbit etc. That is when we will see this ECG feature.

The ‘Verge’ article has it right. Over the next 6 months we will start seeing more and more watches offering ECG. I am excited.

January 20, 2019, Lunar Eclipse Most Likely Obscured In New Hampshire By Clouds.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and study here. From ‘timeanddate.com’. Easy enough to find.

Click to ENLARGE. New Hampshire Forecast, for Sunday night, January 20, 2019, from ‘The Weather Channel’.

I was worried about this. Then I heard about the big storm. That got me more concerned. The eclipse, however, is going to be late. That might help. But, this is just an early heads up. Don’t get your hopes up. You will see a lot about the eclipse on the media, but clouds might be a real problem for us. OK? Sorry.
