Boston, ‘Museum of Science’, In 25 Pictures — Saturday, January 12, 2019.

We went to Boston, on Saturday, January 12, 2019, for the last day of ‘Durgin Park‘. But, given we are members (of long-standing) of the ‘Museum of Science‘ it would have been crazy not to spend some time there as well. And that is exactly what we did, and as ever it was worthwhile and rewarding. Plus, as members we get discounted parking; $22 for 9-hours (which by Boston standards is not too bad).

I took more pictures — many more. But, just wanted to share a few with you. Enjoy.

“Victoria”, Season 3, On A Par With The Excellence Of Seasons 1 & 2.

by Anura Guruge

Click to access homepage for this GREAT show.

Watched it (off DVR) tonight and were delighted. Yes, yes, it lives up to expectations. As good as the prior seasons, albeit just based on this very first episode. Gripping subject — the French Revolution across the Channel. We were captivated.

That none of the cast get any older, though about 9-years have passed, since we first met her, is a bit disconcerting, but it is nice to have all the familiar faces about.

Yes, definitely recommended. Try and catch it. PBS will be showing Episode 1 all week.

Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky) Is Going to Canada To Get An Hernia Operation.

Search on Google News for ‘Rand Paul‘.

This is NOT a joke. This, alas, is very, very real.

A sitting U.S. Senator is going to Canada to get an hernia operation done!

The implications are horrendous. U.S. hospitals and doctors are NOT good enough. WOW.

Now remember, he is a doctor. Wow. So, he should know. WOW.

Canada? Yes, Canada?

Plus, he is not going there to get it done free or on the cheap — though it is way less expensive in Canada than here.

I really am in shock. This is not good. The last thing we need right now.

The ‘New Year 2019’ cakes from a few weeks ago.

Just in the last few weeks I have done two posts on the seriously impressive cakes, available in Sri Lanka (and just in Sri Lanka), thanks to ‘‘.

These cakes are for a Tamil holiday, ‘Thai Pongal’. It is not one I am familiar with. But, the cakes sure look good. So, I wanted to share them with you. Enjoy.

Oh, in case you are wondering, ‘Thai Pongal’, in 2019, starts on January 15 and goes on for 3 to 4 days. It is a harvest celebration.

Diorama Of The Canyon de Chelly ‘White House’ Ruins At Boston’s ‘Museum of Science’.

by Anura Guruge

I am not sure whether this is a new exhibit or whether it never fully registered with me previously. We go to the ‘Museum of Science‘ at least thrice a year, and have done for years and years. So, not much I haven’t seen.

But, I saw this yesterday. I knew what it was as soon as I saw it. Reading the accompanying sign only confirmed what I knew.

Neat. But, I am not 100% happy with the depiction. They seemed to have it garbled. It was unlikely to have been a ruin, in such disrepair, when folks were still living there! So, don’t call it ‘the ruins’ and show people still climbing it with ladders.

Also doesn’t explain why it is called the ‘White House‘. Yes, you can just about see the white building at the back. They believe it was painted white to reflect heat.

Well I have a LOT of posts on this blog about this ‘White House‘.

So, if you are interested just do a search on ‘White House Canyon‘.

Why Would You Keep Someone Alive, In A Vegetative State For 14-Years (Or More)?

by Anura Guruge

Search on Google News for ‘vegetative state‘.

This came to light, alas, as to the Native Indian woman, 29-years old, in a vegetative-state, at a Phoenix, Arizona, nursing facility, unexpectedly giving birth (to a baby boy) last week.

Yes, there are multiple horrendous issues that have to be worked out here. Key among them being that everybody was totally oblivious to her being pregnant UNTIL she started to give birth! Yes, they only realized she was pregnant when she went into labor. Think about that. 9-months in a vegetative state with nobody taking care of her pregnancy.

Yes, she was Native Indian from a local tribe.

Yes, she had been raped. Most likely repeatedly. You have to be very sick to do that.

She is 29-years old.

[I had originally heard, incorrectly, that she had been in a vegetative state for 27-years. No so.]

She has been in a vegetative state for 14-years. Had to do with a near-drowning when she was 15.

Why keep somebody alive, like this, for 14-years? That is not fair on anyone.

That is disturbing. We really should have guidelines and rules.

Maximum of say 5-years. This is crazy. This upsets me much on multiple planes.
