Congratulations are in order, I guess — especially as I am a long-term investor in Garmin.

200 Million products shipped is quite an achievement.

On one hand I am happy. On the other, I fret, in that Garmin seems to have lost its way. FitBit, Apple and others are eating its lunch — in the wearable space.

Yes, they announce results soon.

Let’s hope that this milestone galvanizes them to take stock, gird their loins, and commit to doing even better in the future.

But, congratulations.

The New PBS “Native America” Series Looks Very Enticing.

by Anura Guruge

Click to access the PBS Webpage for this new series.

Happened to see the trailer. Obviously very much my cup of tea given my interest in the Navajos. So, of course, I recorded it. Glad I did.

I only got to watch a few minutes, but what I saw … I liked. Looks very educational and interesting.

So, wanted to make sure that YOU knew about it. Given it is PBS you should still be able to catch episode 1 somewhere on TV or online.

Google Pixel 2 “Night Sight” (Borrowed From Pixel 3) Is Just Insane — Taking Pictures In The DARK!

by Anura Guruge

NO post-processing whatsoever.

Taken with my Google Pixel 2 Phone.

You need to get Ver. 6.1 of the ‘Camera’ App from Google Play.

I read that this ‘Night Sight‘ feature, from Google Pixel 3, had been made available for the Google Pixel 2, this morning, with a brand new update to the Camera App.

I went and downloaded the App. Yes, it was at 6.1 — which was supposed to be the requisite version.

I waited until it was dark to try it out.

IT IS SCARY.

The last 2 pictures, above, were taken in DARKNESS. I could NOT see the lighthouse or Buzz. I kid you not. The first picture had some reflected light from my PC monitors. No other lights in the room. This is AMAZING.

I am going to try this out further.
