Those of you who know me or follow this blog must have worked that I celebrate three (3) New Years, each year, with gusto — January 1, Chinese New Year & then Sinhala New Year on April 14.

Well, Chinese New Year is coming up and for us in New Hampshire it is a welcome respite from the cold and snow. Yes, we plan to go down to Boston, as we do nearly every year, to celebrate.

But, today I just wanted to give you a heads up.

Year of the Dog — and though I am, alas, a ‘snake’, as you know I am inordinately fond of dogs.

Don’t forget, FREE celebratory event at the ‘Confucius Institute’, UNH (Durham, NH) tomorrow and Wednesday.

I Really Like Barack’s ‘Greenery’ Portrait, But Not So Much Michelle’s.

Michelle Obama by Amy Sherald.

I really, really do like Barack’s portrait. WOW. That really stands out and I LOVE the greenery. BRAVO and thank you.

Not so sure about Michelle’s. Yes, a very imposing picture and I like the dress. Not sure about the face. She is MUCH prettier than that! Barack’s face is captured well. Can’t say the same about Michelle. She deserves better.

I might have to get a print of Barack’s. I am not kidding. I really like it, that ‘green’ touches something visceral.

My First Full Week With A Fitbit Ionic — Far From Impressive.

Yes, nothing to rave about. Yes, I know that there are those that do that many steps in 1/2 day.

Yes, it is proof of my near-sedentary lifestyle and proves what I get accused of multiple times a week: “all you do is SIT in front of you PC“.

What can I say. These Fitbit stats, however, do no record the ‘3 hours’, non-stop, I spent shoveling. C’est la vie. Does not matter.

Only two things matter. Floors climbed and resting heart rate. I am cool with those.

Maybe I will do better this week, maybe not. Who knows, and who cares.
