I Now Have Fitbit Ionic On My Wrist — It Is Different To A Garmin!

The Fitbit Ionic as a replacement for my accursed Garmin Vivoactive 3 arrived this afternoon — via UPS.

THANK YOU “Heart Rate Monitors USA” (HRM USA). They were WONDERFUL again. I really lucked out getting my 1st Garmin Vivoactive 3 through them.

So, in exactly a week since I discovered that the altimeter on the Vivoactive 3 had packed up, I now have a brand new Fitbit Ionic (Charcoal),

It is NOT a Garmin. It is different — in many ways. The screen interface is SLOW … SLOW … VERY SLOW … molasses slow.

I know I have dainty wrists. The ‘standard’ band worked but I decided to go with the small to shave away the extra bulk. Getting the new straps to stay on was HARDER than they lead you to believe.

Pairing — to my new Google Pixel 2 — was a piece of cake. First time. Took seconds. Ditto connecting to Wi-Fi.

Updating the software and having it all set up, internally, over Wi-Fi, took about 30-minutes. They estimated 16 minutes. It was OK.

Not sure I get as much data as I did with Garmin. Definitely so on the watch.

Changed the watch face. Couldn’t resist the one with Moon Phase and sunrise/sunset + moon rise/moon set indications.

So, far … so good, I think.

I am NOT totally wowed. It will suffice. That is sad.
