This was the ensemble, replete with percussion, that kicked off “Voices of the 603” 2017 concert — and what an act they were, ebullient and musically exemplary. Very uplifting. Got the concert off to a rousing start. I was not sure what to expect. They definitely got the adrenalin going and set me up for the night. As some of you know, after the years I spent as a ‘Clearlakes Chorale‘ ‘groupie’ I am no stranger to good choral music — and these ladies, and it is an all female chorus — impressed me much.

As promised yesterday, I am trying to make sure that I share some of the 340 photographs I took the concert last night.

Enjoy.

Is This A Fairly Decent Picture — Closeup Of A Concert Performer?

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE. This is a low resolution version of the full-resolution, 6000 x 4000 pixel image I got with my Sony a6500.

I took this last night, at the ‘Voices of the 603‘ concert, with my under-used Sony a6500 and a Sony f/4.5-6.3, 55-210mm zoom. Lighting was not an issue at ISO 6400. So, I had a fair amount of leeway. This was at 1/200 at f/6.3. We were in the 2nd row. That was ‘OK’. With that lens I could have done with being another 6′ away.

Shooting performers, close-up, at concerts has always been something that holds appeal.

I got some ‘good’ ones last night — at least per my expectations and opinions.

What I am interested in is … what do YOU think?

Is this decent enough or did I fail?

Thanks.

There May Never Be A Sony a7 III; the a9 May Be The Upgrade Path!

I can see the ‘Munda Logic‘ in this.

IF you want to stick with 24MP resolution, as I do, then upgrade to the a9 — pay the HUGE price difference even if you do not ever need 20fps shooting capability or two card slots.

IF you need more resolution go with the newly announced Sony a7R III.

There is some rationale to this.

What I was hoping was an a7 III with the Sony a7 body, Sony a6500 sensor and maybe some firmware from the a9.

A different perspective of “Castle In The Clouds” — which is now closed until May 2018. This was from the October 18, 2017 visit — our 3rd in 2017.

It is fun to try and visualize what views ‘they’ enjoyed out of these windows. I am sure I am not doing enough justice. Not as easy, getting it right — or at least not for I.

Enjoy. So, many more pictures of the “Castle” that I should post.

But, I wanted to get these out. Enjoy.

I Pre-Ordered A Garmin Vivoactive 3, In Slate, From Amazon …

I have nothing to lose. Amazon will NOT bill me until they ship.

IF it becomes available at Garmin or Best Buy, I will cancel the Amazon order (which I can do easily right up until they ship) and get it from …

I even paid the $3.99 for 1-day delivery! So, let’s see.

I am NOT amused.

“Voices Of The 603” Concert, Concord, NH, October 27, 2017 — In 30 Pictures (Part I).

Our first time to a ‘Voices of the 603‘ concert — and I gather this is the 8th year; it being an annual event involving some school choirs.

Devanee was participating with a Prospect Mountain High School choir — the ‘Treble Choir‘. That was why we were there.

I did not know what to expect. I was blown away. It was very, very good. Dynamite. Amazing value for $15. I would have paid 4 times that for that concert. Some inspired and inspiring performances. The adult performances, without exception, were outstanding. The kids were great too. Some better than others, this also being a judged competition.

I took 340 pictures (with my Sony a6500). Other than pictures of Devanee (that I as a parent can publish) I have decided NOT to publish any of the pictures involving ‘kids’ — even the young adults from Anselm College. The ‘new’ privacy laws pertaining to publishing kids pictures online are such that it is EASIEST just to refrain. I do not want to deal with any aggravation. I am going to try and get the pictures to the kids in some manner — through the schools.

So here is the program showing the performances included in the above pictures. I will, with luck, post more. I will TRY and get some of the pictures to the adults too via their Websites or Facebook. Contact me, if you want some of these pictures. NO CHARGE! My contact information is easy to find!
