None from our yard! All taken between our house and Locke Lake in Barnstead. This is part of my running route twice a week. So, I know where the foliage is. Today was my day off. So, I went for a ride knowing that the light will be right for the pictures I wanted to take.

Italy Totally Switched Sides During World War II On This Day, 74-Years Ago — Declaring War On Germany!

by Anura Guruge

Click here to access “The New York Times” original.

Hard to even fathom … right.

You enter a major war on one-side and then turn against your original partner — and, moreover, declare war on them. But, that was Italy during WW II. Which is why to this day those that understand this stuff still joke about the Italian army.

But, at least, you can say, they saw the errors of their way.

So, if you know any Italians or Germans ask them IF they remember this anniversary. 74-years ago.

Margaret Thatcher (My 2nd Favorite Female PM) Was Born This Day, 92 Years Ago; October 13, 1925. (It Was Not A Friday).

by Anura Guruge

Having, as a student, led a protest march against her I became one of the staunchest supporters as I aged — and started making some ‘serious money’! Yes, I was an out-and-our Conservative by the time I was in my mid-20s.

She was a GREAT Lady.

The 5th female Prime Minister.

I never realized that she was ‘that’ old, i.e., born 1925.

She will be remembered. She did some good things. Got me into the stock market — if nothing else. {Smile}

“CarGurus” IPO, On October 12, 2017, Only Good For Those Lucky Enough To Have $16 IPO Shares.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and study. From “MarketWatch”.

I had read, prior to the open (on Thursday, October 12, 2017), that the IPO shares had been re-priced at $16 — higher than the original $15 ceiling.

Given what happened to the SWICH IPO last week, I didn’t even bother to check CARG during the day. I was kind of busy.

Well it appears that I didn’t miss much.

It opened at $29 which meant that there must have been a huge backlog of demand at the start. So a very nice 81% pop for those that had $16 shares. Wonder how many of them got a chance to sell.

But, the trend appears to have been a downward drift from the initial enthusiasm.

I will have to keep an eye on it.

Will Amazon Stock Take A Hit From The Weinstein Stories — Especially Now That It Is Above $1,000 Again.

From what I can deduce, AMZN crossed the $1,000 mark, for the first time in weeks, on Thursday, October 12, 2017, before these stories gained much currency.

Now the question and concern is whether these and others like it will take a toll on the stock price.

To be fair, Amazon, and Jeff Bezos, tend to be Teflon-coated. Plus we are coming up to Amazon’s third quarter earnings report — believed to be on October 26, 2017. Basically 2 weeks from now. Customarily the stock will climb, as much as $40 to $100, leading up to earnings. Then the fun begins.

So, the desire to get into AMZN prior to earnings may override any negatives from these stories.

Just giving you a heads up.

Today’s Friday the 13th, October 13, 2017, Is THE REAL DEAL! Beaware.

by Anura Guruge

Only Friday the 13th that fall in October count!

That is what the superstition is all about, Friday the 13th in the month of October. That is when a very bad thing happened, in France, in 1307. The dissolution of the Knight’s Templar.

Click to ENLARGE and read here. Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Knights_Templar

On average we get a Friday the 13th every 212 days.

We already had one this year in January.

We will have another one in April & July of 2018.

Those that do not happen in October do NOT count.

Friday the 13th really ALL has to do with the
Dissolution of the Knights Templar on Friday, October 13th, 1307.

So Friday the 13th on other months is meaningless. Sorry.

But, today is the real McCoy.

The ’13’ really has nothing to do with the supposed thirteen attendees at the ‘Last Supper’ — particularly since there is no consensus, at all (at all), that the ‘Last Supper’ took place on a Friday — that traditionally been the date of the Crucifixion, hence ‘Good Friday‘ at Easter.

The superstition about Fridays the 13th being unlucky really has its roots in Friday, October 13, 1307, when, with the blessing of the French PopeClement V, the French King, Philip IV, who was heavily in fiscal debt to the Templar’s (the original international bankers), had most of the Templars in France arrested.

It was a bad day for the Templars — and was really the first major financial crisis in world history.

Hence why people were afraid of Fridays the 13th. They didn’t want a repeat of what happened to the (far from) ‘poor’ Templars.

This fact tends to be forgotten.

Friday the 13th in October happens per a 5 to 6 year cycle with occasional 11-year gaps.

We just had one of those. So, the last 13th in October was 11-years ago, 2006. The next one is 6-years from now.

This is ONLY my 9th Friday the 13th in October.

Here, I made you a CHART.
