Garmin Connect (On Android 7) Stops Showing “All Day Heart Rate” Menu Option …

by Anura Guruge

I noticed it yesterday, 7-8 hours after I had removed the Vivoactive HR from the account.

I am sure that this was NOT a coincidence.

I had originally thought I had LOST all my heart rate data from the 117 days that I did wear the Vivoactive 3 everyday — BUT luckily that is NOT the case. I can access the data from the main dashboard by clicking on ” TODAY — heart rate”. That is good.

Called up Garmin Support. No help. I am getting rather upset with them.

So this is but a heads up. OK?

The Eponymous Henry J. Heinz Was Born This Day, 173-Years Ago — October 11, 1844.

I am not a great consumer of his soups but I know we have Heinz products in the house — if nothing else the ketchup. Obviously one of the better known names around.

Kind of funny, I always thought that Andy Warhol’s Soup Cans were that of Heinz. I just went and looked. They are not!

Ironic and sad that he died in 1919, aged 74, of pneumonia. Alas, that was before we had antibiotics. I wonder whether he was given hot soups in his last days.

Vatican II, That Redefined What It Meant To Be ‘Catholic’, Started This Day, 55-Years Ago — October 11, 1962.

Vatican II, as most Catholics know, was a BIG deal. It still divides many Catholics and the history of the Catholic Church is now clearly demarcated by ‘pre-Vatican II‘ and ‘post-Vatican II‘. For many it will be best known as the Ecumenical Council that gave us the Vernacular Mass (i.e., the non-Latin Mass).

To I, it will always be indelibly associated with my alltime favorite Pope, John XXIII. This was his crowning achievement in a life full of many.

55-years ago. Wow. Wasn’t that long ago.

Today, October 11, “World Obesity Day 2017” — I Will Drink To That. Cheers!

What can I say. I have struggled with it all my life and it keeps on getting worse.

My doctor already told me in August that I was going to die! So, I am resigned to it. I just like food too much.

That said I am totally convinced, despite what my doctor said, that obese people are HEALTHY. It is the thin ones that keel over and die, unexpectedly.

So, what am I going to do? I am going to toast “World Obesity Day 2017” with a large glass of red. What else would you expect from I. {Smile}

Tractors at Sandwich Fair New Hampshire 2017 Anura Guruge Sony a7 II

I like to watch — and take pictures — of the tractors and tractor pull at Sandwich Fair. I love the whole scene: the sound, the smell, the action and above all the vivid colors. I can spend a lot of time hanging around the tractor arena. But, given that the girls are not that enamored with tractors my time tends to get rationed. I managed to spend about 30-minutes at the arena on Sunday. That was good. I managed to learn about the new pulling sled from a gentleman I was standing next to. That was good. It is always a bonus if I learn something new.

So enjoy these pictures.

Here are the pictures I posted yesterday of the new pulling sled. Click image to access that post.

Our Mail In Alton, N.H., Was Delivered At 8:05 PM By The USPS Mailman!

by Anura Guruge

I am not complaining. I feel BAD for our mailman — who I consider a friend. He still had about 3-hours of delivery ahead of him! That meant he wouldn’t get home till close to midnight. That is crazy.

Yes, yes, yes. I know him. I know him well. Yes, he doesn’t normally finish his round till 7 or 8pm, but even for him this was LATE.

Appears that another Alton delivery person walked-out at 1pm. ‘Quit’ is what I was told.

We have had a lot of turnover.

I was expecting some copies of my latest meditation book, from Amazon, in the mail. Amazon said it was out for delivery. We had gone out for dinner and didn’t get back till 8pm. I checked the mailbox. No mail. So, I assumed my books had been delayed till the next day. Then I was out, with the dogs when I saw the headlights of the Jeep approaching. I knew immediately who it was. We talked. I told him to be ‘careful’. It is a tricky route — at night.

I hope they fix whatever the issues are at the Post Office. Nice crew — the last time I visited.
