CNN, One Of My Daily Necessities, Came To Be This Day 37-Years Ago; June 1, 1980.

by Anura Guruge

Wow. ‘Just’ 37-years ago? But, as far as I am concerned it has always been around. I didn’t make it to the U.S., this last time around, until February 1985 [the first time having been, but for a year, in Buffalo, 1967 – 1968]. So, CNN was here when I got here. Not sure when I started watching it. I think I was first exposed to it in all the hotels I was staying — given that I was travelling on business three to four days a week during those first 18 months.

I am a news junkie and have been for at least a decade. I watch CNN and MSNBC for at least 90-minutes in total every day. So I am sure glad that we have CNN.

Happy Birthday, CNN. Thanks Ted.

The Nazi, Adolf Eichmann, One Of The Architects Of The Holocaust, Was Hanged This Day 55-Years Ago — In Israel.

by Anura Guruge

One of the worst among what was a sorry cabal of murderers and thugs. He joined the Nazis when 26. He was hanged 30 years later.

Being the coward he was he fled Germany in 1945 as the end was near. Israel’s Mossad located and captured him in Argentina in 1960.

He was supposed to be hung by 11:59pm on March 31. But, they had some technical difficulties and the execution did not take place till June 1. Some sources still have March 31, 1962 as the date of his death.

‘Burnt’ 2015 Movie: Interesting, Explosive Glimpse Into The World Of A Michelin-Star Chef In London.

Interesting movie. Fast paced, lots of drama and expletives galore à la Gordon Ramsay — and I am not sure how much of this echo’s Ramsay in that this is set in London, though it harks back to Paris.

Chef’s intrigue me. I could never have been one. I do not have the patience and would NOT be willing to spend so much time and effort on something that is so transitory — i.e., food that is to be eaten, then and there. But, I like to watch their devotion.

This is not a masterpiece. A common or garden movie, in reality. But, easy enough to watch in that it is fast-paced.

Appears that it is available, for FREE, on YouTube.
