To be fair Panasonic has announced WAY TOO MANY cameras!

That their digital camera sales, despite their prowess in 4K video, is declining comes as no surprise. Camera sales across the board, across all manufacturers, are declining. People are using their increasingly capable smart phones. Plus their hands are full with the phone. They have no hands to use for a camera.

Samsung gave up the ghost in 2015.

Nikon is in trouble and is dramatically scaling back new camera introductions. THAT IS GOOD.

And now Panasonic. Panasonic currently has 192 cameras on its books. That is CRAZY. Way too many. They have introduced too many cameras with very little to differentiate them. Now they have to pay the price, and the piper.

However, what is strange about Panasonic announcement is the claim that they are going merge the digital cameras with another division — and doesn’t name what division that might be.

There is nothing that seems obvious. They could probably put it with ‘Home + Office’ which has phones, printers, solar panels and vacuum cleaners. We will have to wait and see. But, one thing is clear. They have to start rationalizing and trimming their camera repertoire. Way too many models.

The Very British ‘Henley Royal Regatta’ Came To Be This Day 178-Years Ago; March 26, 1839.

I wore something SIMILAR to the gentleman on the extreme right, a striped blazer, though mine was lighter in color and a straw boater — though mine was much more colorful.

Ah! Henley.

I have (as yet) only had the honor and pleasure of attending JUST once, in 1983. I was Customer Support Manager for Northern Telecom (UK) and we had a hospitality tent to reward our major customers.

It was a blast.

Had to go shopping for the blazer and boater. Had to have a new ribbon installed to match my colorful flamboyance. Loved it.

I used to know Henley the ‘village’ quite well — BUT, alas, just one Regatta.

Is there ANY WAY that that might get rectified.

The Dreaded British ‘Driving Test’ Came To Be This Day 83-Years Ago; March 26, 1934.

by Anura Guruge

83-years ago. So I doubt that anybody that took the test in 1934 is still around today — given that that would put them at, a minimum, 101. BUT, I could be wrong.

Wow. Just thinking of it gives me the shivers.

Took it in 1971, in London.

Well, something for us Brits to think about.

Tragic.

Nonetheless I always find his life inspirational — overcoming crippling adversity.

Copying Beethoven” is one of my favorite movies and one of the v. few that I have watched more than 3 times.

And “Ode to Joy“. Love it.

So let us pause for a SECOND today and think of poor, and he indeed was POOR in so many way, Ludwig.
