Wednesday, December 21, 2016, The Winter Solstice Is Also “Global Orgasm Day For Peace”.

Though this is always an important holiday, ‘PEACE’ is more important this year than EVER BEFORE.

The ‘Global Orgasm Day‘ is an embodiment of ‘Make Love, Not War‘.

So, please make sure to celebrate.

As ever I do my part by making sure that you do NOT forget these important ‘Orgasm Days‘ during the year — though in my book, quite literally, every day is an orgasm day!

Enjoy.

My FAVORITE day of the year.

I sulk during the Summer Solstice — because I understand, appreciate and live by what it all means.

As of the Summer Solstice days start getting SHORTER, immediately, until the Winter Solstice.

But, as of the Winter Solstice, tomorrow, days start getting LONGER. Rejoice.

So, may I be the first to wish you a Very Merry Winter Solstice.

Welcome Yule!

“Dartmouth College Library” Has An Outstanding, Extremely Handy ‘Ask A Librarian’ Service.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access the outstanding, ever so helpful “Dartmouth College Library” ‘Ask a Librarian’ service.

When you live in the sticks as I do (or for that matter in most parts of New Hampshire) it is not that easy getting to a LARGE, academic library.

And there are some things that you still cannot access online. {SMILE}

This morning I needed something ‘eyeballed’ at a library and going to my ever so friendly local library would not have helped.

I was hoping I might be able to send in an e-mail inquiry. So, I started with Dartmouth — because I have nothing but utmost respect for them.

Wow. Better than e-mail. Online Chat.

And WOW again. Were they helpful. Online …. bang, bang, bang …

Looked it up for me, both in print and with one of their SUBSCRIPTION services. I was thrilled and amazed. What service.

I have the answer.

One thing that AMUSED me. Dartmouth does not have a copy of the original, first edition, 1928 “Oxford English Dictionary“. They only have the 2002 edition. No doubt, at some stage, somebody threw away the 1928 edition as obsolete. Shame.

Camera Manufacturers, Like Sony, Helping Retailers Sell Used Cameras As New.

This thorny but waxing issue continues to linger and persists.

Yes, it is a problem for all sides. People, including I, return cameras. Retailers and manufacturers do NOT want to lose too much money on returned cameras.

But, there has to be a better, more equitable solution.

Fuji cameras, at least when I bought my Fuji X-E2s, in May 2016, came inside a sealed bag.

But, as can be seen from the Forum posts folks still have concerns.

Sony, for a fact, do not provide ANY seals on their cameras or lenses.

This, of course, is to HELP the resellers.

At a minimum all cameras, above say $450, should come sealed, in a sealed bag inside a sealed box.

There should also be a (hard to reset) shutter actuation count that can be displayed.

Otherwise we will continue to have this problem.

The supposedly new Sony a6000, I got from Amazon, albeit from ‘Cardinal Photo‘, had a shutter actuation of 19. And I will admit that that is a strange, hard to reconcile number.

I am dreading getting the Sony a6500. What will I see in terms of shutter actuations.
