Seems like a fair assessment.
Still image quality (IQ) & autofocus (AF) are highly rated as is “One of the best APS-C cameras at high ISO”. So all of that is good. This is encouraging too: “Still this is the most powerful and usable Sony APS-C camera to date. It can keep up on the sidelines and in the gymnasium with its DSLR competitors thanks to its excellent AF system and impressive buffer.”
From everything I have heard (and I have done a fair amount of digging on this camera) the criticism of the touchscreen is justified. Shame Sony couldn’t get this right.
The 85% score is impressive and up there with the TOP contenders.
But, it did NOT get a GOLD award — because the overall score does not necessarily correspond to the award.
The score, basically, is a technical assessment of the features and capabilities.
The award, however, is subjective and factors in ‘user friendliness’, character and appeal. And that I understand. I feel the same — and have said so. It is not a fun camera to use!
