Think – Today: When You Diet What Happens To The Weight You Shed?

by Anura Guruge

fatSay you lost 5 pounds. Shed 5 pounds. There is the expression about ‘burning fat’. Where does the weight we lose go? How do we shed it. It doesn’t come off in chunks.

Think first, then research, then THINK again. Think for the pleasure of thinking.

Yesterday’s ‘Think’Plastic oven bags are made from a high-melting point NYLON (or polymer). They are FDA approved. The bags can melt, but not at the below 400° F temperatures they are meant to be used. The 2 tablespoons of flour, per ‘Reynolds’ who make such bags is for blending the fat and juices released during the roasting to protect the bags from bursting.

Super, Supermoon On Monday, November 14, 2016 — Largest Since 1948 & Not Another Similar For 18 Years.

by Anura Guruge

For many this could be a once in a lifetime Supermoon, given that the last one of this magnitude was in 1948 and the next in 2034.

It all has to do with the fact that the Moon’s closest approach to Earth is NOT constant each month. It is closer to Earth some months than others. Multiple factors influence this, including the Sun’s gravitational pull.

Plus, a Supermoon is NOT an astronomical term. It is more a lay term and as such there is latitude in what is considered ‘closest’ to Earth. In any given month, for it to be a Supermoon the moon doesn’t even have to be at its closest point to the Earth for that month. It only has to be within 90% of the closest approach.

Hence why all Supermoon’s are not equal.

So the November 14, 2016 will be 229 miles (0.10%) closer to Earth than the September 2015 Supermoon.

Got that?

I just hope we have good weather that night.

Alton, N.H. Property Tax Rate For 2016 – 2017 Is 14.15, Down 0.12.

by Anura Guruge

The good news is that it did NOT go up!

As far as I know there are no new property valuations afoot either.

So property taxes will come down, in Alton, a TAD.

But, the bad news. The way that New Hampshire property tax is ‘posted’ and paid, i.e., 1/2 year in arrears (so to speak), most of us will get a tax bill for December 2016 than we not be that different to what we had in July 2016. So, be prepared. Do not expect a big drop. You will be dissapointed.

Alton taxes will be due by December 14, 2016.
