It has been exactly a month since I got my Panasonic Lumix LX100. I have enjoyed using it. Exactly what I wanted — a camera with full manual control with dedicated dials for Exposure Compensation and Shutter Speed. It has taken some great pictures — though I am still learning how to use it and haven’t had the time to read the instruction manual nor the book I got from Amazon! But, to be fair much of the camera’s operation is similar to that of my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 so I did have a head start. I have, as it says in the title, taken 2,300 usable photographs with it — and that is with me NOT using it everyday since I also use the FZ100.

This camera is a keeper. Deanna has already indicated that she will have it when I, as is inevitable, will decide to upgrade.

I got a great deal on the camera. In the end I ended up paying just $630 for the camera (along with a throwaway kit). I might get another $13 off that also because the credit card I used has a ‘Price Rewind’ feature and I think I can find a camera on Amazon for $617. For $630 it was one heck of a bargain — but then again I get these discounts because I go through a lot of cameras. I think this was the 5th or 6th camera I have bought since August 2015, though I only keep 2 cameras at any one time (not counting the cameras that Deanna and the kids have).

My only major concern about the LX100 is the White Balance. But I can live with that. It is also produces funky colors and gets a tad temperamental when I use it outside in cold weather BUT to be fair the specs. do say that the operating temperature is ABOVE freezing — and I do use it when it is colder than that (which is not unusual for New Hampshire winter).

Yes, I would like slightly more zoom (and I try not to use Digital Zoom). The electronic viewfinder (EVF) leaves a bit to be desired. Though I don’t articulate my LCD that often it would be nice to have the capability.

Yes, there is talk of a follow-up, i.e., the Panasonic LX200. Would I get it. Probably … because I am a sucker for new technology. SMILE.

But for now DEFINITELY ‘Two Thumbs’ up. A keeper. A winner. Thanks Panasonic.
