prassadIn over 50 years of following cricket I have never seen anything so grotesquely crude as Sri Lanka’s Dhammika Prasad haring after India’s Ishant Sharma — itching for a confrontation. It just was not cricket. I watched it, on Willow, speechless. I couldn’t believe he was NOT suspended on the spot. Actually he was not suspended at all. Just fined 50% of his match fees. That is nothing. This was diabolical. This brought disrepute to cricket. He should be banned. I am appalled.

Now that I finished my latest pope book — this one about Pope Francis’ forthcoming visit to the U.S. — I am making sure that I leave myself time to do OTHER THINGS in addition to writing books. For a start I am forcing myself to take a 6 week break from writing books! This is the first time in 8 years I have taken a hiatus between books. I had fallen into the habit of starting on a new book as soon as the previous one was done — usually even doing so while waiting the proofs of the other. That explains why I got 19 books written in those 8 years. I am going to slow down. Do other things.

Keeping track of the College of Cardinals is going to be one of those activities. From 2007 to March 2013 I used to follow and document changes to the College on a daily basis. Then, after the last conclave — that elected Pope Francis — I stopped. But I missed it. So I am back.

Papam.wordpress.com has been resurrected.

I don’t see any mention of a presence by the indefatigable “Free the Female Nipple” New Hampshire movement.
They probably are planning just to quietly mingle with the crowds. That would be good.
