Every Year, By Definition
Is Always Good.
What else can it be. It is a FAIR. You go there to have fun.
Of course we went. We rarely miss going — as far as I remember we have only missed one in about 8 years and that was because we had to go to Boston to meet a cousin visiting from Canada.
We had fun. We spent our usual ‘the new norm’ budget of around $80. Got a TON of stuff. None of which we really needed BUT it was FUN.
These days, given that there is nothing that we are looking for per se, we just go for the ‘closing’ on Saturday evening. This year we didn’t get there till just past 6pm. Perfect, and the weather was fine too. Got a parking spot, on the road, right opposite the book stall. Doesn’t get better than that. Later on, when it was even less busy, we moved the van to a side road so we didn’t have to cart our stuff far — and I do mean ‘cart’ in that we did take a large, pull-along cart with us.
Got the usual stuff. Lots of knick-knacks. Got a nice 1776 – 1976 Commemorative Wedgwood plate. I like Wedgwood and always pick up anything that I can afford. This piece was ironic. An iconic British institution producing a plate to celebrate 200 years of independence from the British. Got a FEW books. I am ultra selective now. Just don’t have room for many more books. One of them was serendipitous. It was one of 4 volumes I was missing from the 27-volume ‘Time-Life‘ “Old West” series. So that was a bonus.
We were there till about 8:45. A good time was had by all. Can’t wait till next year!
