To be fair this is from the lunatic, Ann Coulter wing of the misguided, extremely insecure extremist Buddhist faction.

The Himalayas — and as such places like Nepal — have major earthquakes BECAUSE of plate tectonics in that region. How do YOU think the Himalayas got pushed UP that high in the first place.

Trying to blame this on animal sacrifice is just plain wrong and crazy.

I am, of course, NOT into animal sacrifice, BUT given that I eat meat, of all types (without restrictions), multiple times a day, most days, I can’t be a hypocrite.

Moreover, all Buddhists are NOT, by a long chalk, vegetarian. So for a FEW Buddhist to take this ‘holier than thou’ line is disingenuous. When I was growing up in Ceylon (pre-Sri Lanka) over than 70% of the Buddhist monks OPENLY ate meat. I know BECAUSE I kept track — at the frequent alms givings that I attended. I was always like that. Keeping track of this stuff — and funnily enough some of the monks knew that I kept track of who ate what.

The earthquakes in Nepal, including today’s major quake, is a great shame. I, an Everest buff, am VERY FOND of Sherpas. But, like them (I hope), I am a realist enough to appreciate that earthquakes, in this instance, real does go with the territory.

Use gstnetworks.net to access the ‘GST Networks‘ speedtest — based on the same  Ookla technology as used by speedtest.net.

The results, i.e., bandwidth readings, haven’t changed — and that is good.

New interface identifies ISP, in my case MetroCast. That is neat.

Just wanted to share this with YOU.

gstnetworks.net, which is lightweight and nifty, is ALWAYS my preferred means of checking my bandwidth. IF gstnetworks.net gives me a decent reading I leave at that. These days I only use speedtest.net IF I have to do some ‘diagnostics’ to see what is wrong with my bandwidth. I recommend that you do the same. Start with IF gstnetworks.net.

It Is HARD To Credit But New England Market Basket (MA, NH, ME) Does NOT Have A Website!

It is very clear about it — it is NOT the official Website

It is easy to get fooled on the Home Page.

After my earlier post on hand sanitizers, or the lack thereof, I thought it would be easy to send the link to Market Basket through their Website.

Well that was not be the case.

When you Google ‘Market Basket‘ the above Website comes up at the top — looking very much like the bona fide site. Not so. IF you go to the ‘Contact’ tab, as I did (looking for an e-mail or a form), I found the disclaimer.

It is interesting that there are other food chains with the same name. There is also a very vicious site which comes up if you Google ‘Demoulas‘.

So I ended up having to call up the Market Basket, on Fort Eddy Road, in Concord, N.H., using the phone number that was on the receipt from our earlier shopping trip. Spoke to the assistant manager. (See update at the bottom.)

He confirmed that ‘Market Basket’ does NOT have a Website. I was amazed. Is it the last holdout when it comes to Websites. Wow.
