Google, given the resources at their disposal SCREWED UP in terms of the Doodle’s reach.

As with ALL cricket World Cups, this is a true International event. [Not between two cities from the same country].

14 (Fourteen) countries participating (after qualifying): England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, New Zealand, Afghanistan, Scotland, South Africa, India, Pakistan, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Ireland and UAE.

There would have been millions in the U.S. and Canada who would have liked to have seen this Doodle.

Plus, I think the worldwide following for cricket is now close to a BILLION — having India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh helps.

We Got A Google Chromecast But I Am Returning It. It Was A Sub-Par Experience.

chromeastgarbageBasically as I have heard so much about it and because I had a hankering to stream PC & Android Pad video onto our 47″ TV (think ICC World Cup Cricket) I got a Google Chromecast. Because of my fondness and reliance on Google and Chrome, I never really looked at any alternatives. There a few brands that I am committed to, viz. Amazon, Google, Fidelity, and I tend to just go to them. Well Google let me down. I was a bit bummed. But, no real issue. I already printed the RMA to return it. Thank YOU, Amazon.

It works, but it is really pathetic! Setup, to be fair, was a piece of cake. Took a couple of minutes using a Pad. That was the easy and good part. It was downhill from then. It is SLOW. The TV quality is POOR. 702p! Yikes. Works OK with YouTube and that, really, is the be all and end all of it. Yes, I tried an ESPN APP on my Pad. Yes, it will cast that OK, but there is nothing on EPSN that I want to cast.

The final straw is that the Chrome Browser of an Android pad will not cast to it! That is like saying that you can’t have ice cream with apple pie. That is beyond stupid. Yes, the Chromecast Extension works, with Chrome, on a Pad. But that was it.

Teischan and Deanna had fun dancing to YouTube videos — and they will be put out that I am returning the Chromecast. But I will get something better, like a Roku.

So a heads up. It is not even worth the $31 I paid for it. I wouldn’t even keep it if they gave it to me for FREE! Point taken?
