It could just be scheduled maintenance on a Sunday night.

But it has been down for a couple of hours NOT that I have tried it that often.

Just a heads up incase you were also having troubles and was wondering IF others were also in the same boat. Looks like we are. I am sure it will be back to normal soon. They have quite the interconnected, redundant network.

Craigslist has been hacked! It is still down.

WOW.
Has been down for nearly 12 hours. Check Google news.
NOT GOOD.

The Samsung 28.2 MP Smart Camera NX1 Due To Be Released This Week Looks Like One Heck Of An Option For The Discerning Enthusiast.

Though I currently have a refurbished Canon Rebel T3i I am in no way wedded to it or to Canon — though this not, by a long chalk, the only Canon I have owned. I owned a Canon A1 for a very long time. I know we have at least two Panasonics in the house (not counting one that has gone missing) and I have owned Nikons. I think I do have a Nikon 35mm somewhere around here. I got Devanee a cute Samsung ‘selfie’ camera — i.e., one with two LCD viewfinders, aft and stern, last Christmas — though that one has given some grief. My point is that I have never been wedded to one particular camera vendor. Yes, it is very true that I do not (as yet) have an investment in ‘glass’ — but that is also not an accident. I did not want to become a Canon or Nikon adherent ONLY because I owned ‘glass’ that I didn’t want to get rid of.

So, I am the first to agree that the reason I can think of the Samsung NX1 is because I am not invested in ‘glass’ or the ‘accoutrements’ from the BIG two: Canon & Nikon. Ditto for shooting in RAW and having the right software to work with RAW files. RAW does not appeal to me because I do not have the time, patience and most of all the temperament to fiddle with images after I have clicked them. IF I have to I will crop them as necessary, resize them and worst case do some brightness/contrast adjustments. But I try not to even do that. I am into WICIWYSwhat I click is what you see. So, ‘glass’, flashes, batteries, and software are not considerations in my case.

That allows me, given my nature, to look at DSLRs purely in terms of their specs and price — but primarily the specs. In the end, at my very core, I am still a techie. I pour over specs., I compare specs. and evaluate the specs.

Mirrorless DSLRs have appealed to me though I have yet to have used one let alone held one in my hand. To me the mirror gets in the way and you can’t deny the lag time and the vibration. An electronic viewfinder resonates with me. I have a feeling that an EVF will give me better adjustments to deal with my wonky eyes. Then there is the focusing. Per the specs. the focusing system on the NX1, with 205 fast-focus, AF points coupled to a fast processor is something else — especially in a sub-$2K camera. That it can shoot 15fps is a bonus. The video capabilities of DSLRs leave me cold. I have yet to even shoot one video with my T3i though I have now had it for 3 months.

I don’t really need a new camera right now though Devanee already has her eyes on the T3i since I have told her that she can have it IF I get another camera. But I can look. So far I have liked everything I have seen and read about the NX1 — but since it has yet to be released in the U.S. there is as yet a paucity of meaningful reviews.

But just wanted to share with you what I was thinking. Samsung NX1 because: it is mirrorless, offers 28.2 megapixels, has 205 phase detect autofocus points, has a new high speed image processor, supports Wi-Fi and is supposedly Android ready!

I put this together for my own use BUT I knew
others would find it of use as well.

I wanted a clear split between the months, the Saturday concerts,
the ones that start late

& most of all at which venue the show was going to be at.

So I had to have it in this type of tabular form.
Now I can see it in my ‘head’.
