I know the $15 per car, non-weekend/non-holiday rate
is the same as last year and maybe the year before
— with the $2 discount for online purchases.

Not sure about the $20 ticket price for weekends and holidays.
That too could be the same.

I bought my tickets online both in 2012 & 2013
and it was very slick and efficient.
Exemplary.

Most likely we will go. No reason not to go.
Kids & I like it. Deanna grumbles that we have seen it before
but she gets outvoted.
Yes, if we go, as looks most likely,
we will, of course, post the pictures as is our wont.

New Hampshire (N.H.) 2014 – 2015 Property Tax Rates: 18 More Towns Report, But STILL NO Alton.

We are done for the week of November 14, 2014. 16 more towns reported this week.

Property tax rates for 161 New Hampshire towns are now in. That is 72%.

But still NO Alton, N.H.

I called the Alton Town Hall yesterday. They claim that they are waiting on the State.

As I pointed out last week in 2013 we were all set by November 9th.

I am getting worried. The longer we go I have a nagging hunch that it is not going to be good news.

So the next update, given that updates are typically only done on Fridays, will be on November 21. IF that is the case it is going to be very tight getting the bills paid in December.

I Think Philae Robotic Lander On 67P/Churyumov–Gerasimenko Will Get Sunlight As It Approaches August 2015 Perihelion.

I am no stranger to Rosetta/Philae.
I talked about the mission in my Comet book. Check it out.

There is more in my Black Comet ISON book. Check that out too.

Philae_over_a_comet_(crop)Well we all knew that gravity, or lack thereof, was going to be a problem. That it is currently precariously perched on the side of a cliff and not getting much sunlight is a bummer BUT I reckon that this will change. Lets not forget that Philae is on a comet HURTLING towards the Sun at incredibly high speed.

Next perihelion is on August 13, 2015.

I believe that Philae will definitely get sunlight after the perihelion when all the orientations switch around and possibly even before as some of the mass of the comet starts to sublimate due to the radiation from the Sun.

So I am not writing Philae off. It might not have enough battery power for a few months BUT then it might, yet again, emerge from the shadow it is now under.

*******

On Friday morning, following this post, ESA CONFIRMED my assertion that Philae could get its ‘time in the Sun’ as it gets closer to the Sun. Whatever you may think, I do know my comets. [SMILE].

It Is Time For John Chambers To Graciously Hand Over The Reigns Of Cisco.

John Chambers, THE MAN. Mr. Cisco (with no disrespect whatsoever to John Morgridge (who I have also met).

I have absolutely nothing against John Chambers. I actually like him very much. He has been good to me, personally, in multiple ways. Yes, I have worked directly with John, 1995 – 1997, at Cisco. I was fortunate enough to be one of the trusted analysts that used to get asked to comment on some of their at that time frequent acquisitions. [That is how Don Listwin, Cisco’s maverick SVP of marketing at the time ended up writing the preface to my Integrating TCP/IP i-nets with IBM Data Center book.] I remember at least once having dinner with John and his inner circle of advisors during an InterOp show. I would not be here if not for John. Cisco was one of my best clients, I had, for awhile Cisco stock options, and I do not go for long without owning CSCO stock.

John is an amazing person, a class act and there is no denying that. That is why, after seeing him on TV on Thursday, discussing the latest Cisco results, it occurred to me that John should leave while he is still on top.

Cisco would not be Cisco without John — though, of course, he was not a founder, not even an early employee and is not one of their technologist. John is an executive’s executive and as such created this company — the undisputed leader in networking. John’s true genius was the aggressive acquisition program he implemented in the mid-1990s and I will not even mention Nashoba Networks.

John has been at Cisco 24 years! That is a long time by any measure — especially when you happen to be a manager that was brought in to handle the ‘next phase’ of an emerging company’s life. That John did and did it well. John is 65 years old, though he looks 55. But seeing John on TV today I could see that he no longer has the passion he did in 1996 — and WHO the heck can blame him. It is time for some new blood.

CSCO stock hasn’t done great over the last decade — and I would know. [SMILE]

John, on Thursday, disparaging his competition, especially Juniper, was another SIGN for me. John like me is ex-IBM (and ex-Wang). Per his IBM training he never used to openly disparage his competition. John is getting jaded.

So nothing against John. John has done GREAT. But it is time to gracefully hand over the reigns while the world still thinks of him as a TITAN.

Thank YOU John for all you have done for Cisco, the world and I.
