I have said this very same thing before and I will say it again.
It is NOT the fats you have to cut out but the carbs.
This study just attests what some of us have known, from hands on experience, for years.
Think of this as a public service post for those that are struggling to get their cholesterol under control.
I have now been on a low-carb diet for 20 months.
My weight has stabilized and I am ‘OK’ with that.
I stress, it is ‘low carb’, not ‘no carb’.
There is no such thing as a ‘no carb’ diet.
Carbs are everywhere and you need SOME carbs.
I have done low-carb before so this is not new to me.
My advice: low-carb, eat as much cheese, pork, hot dogs, kielbasa, chicken and nuts as you want.
Don’t worry about the carbs in fruit. Eat what you want.
A glass of diluted red is essential as is sex —
‘an “O”-a-day is far better than an apple a day
at keeping the doctor away’.
(Not sure about bacon. I no longer eat bacon.
To me bacon does seem to be pushing it.
I also limit the eggs I eat, though I probably don’t have to)
Oh, yes. A bit of exercise is good too.
Plus, do NOT fast for more than one day at a time!
I am not sure IF anybody has done any research on this as yet.
But, I think low-carb diets minimize, if not eliminate,
the ‘bad breath’ that some get — emanating from their

We went to the beach around 5:30 pm yesterday, Labor Day — which happened to be September 1, 2014. That was a bit early for us, BUT ‘Sept. 1’ is a landmark for us on our beach. As of September 1 until Memorial Day we can take the dogs to the beach whenever; during the ‘Summer’ they can only go after 7pm.
I decided to give the water a try. Given the Biblical deluge that we had had the night before I fully expected the water to be too cold — at least for me. There was nobody out swimming — but that is par for the course ‘that late’ most evenings. Two very young kids playing close to the beach, but that doesn’t count because they don’t feel the cold as much as I do.
But when I ventured in, beyond my knees, I was pleasantly surprised. It was warm! It had actually warmed up since I last swam. Well the day time temps. have been higher we are going to have at least four 80°F days in a row this week.
So just want to let you know that the lakes in Central New Hampshire are still eminently swimmable right now — i.e., first week of September 2014 — even though we may also be talking Fall Foliage.
We are still messing around with the my refurbished Canon EOS Rebel T3i with 18-55mm IS II Lens.
Took these two pictures before we headed for the beach.

I got one of those, oft infuriating, e-mails on my DirecTV (Information Bar) that gave me a heads up on this last night. This was probably the ONLY e-mail I have received from DirecTV in that manner which was of some import and worth. Thought I should share this with you because I often see searches from folks looking for the ‘free preview weekends’. “12 Years a Slave” is supposedly the prime 8pm movie on Saturday. I haven’t seen it and will, of course, record it. Enjoy.
