Just last week I raved about perambulating around the delightful Wolfeboro, N.H. — the Oldest Summer Resort in the U.S.

Well, today, for a change I got to perambulate during the day, though it started off misty and moist — though the Sun started to peak out around 10:20 am.

Devanee had a Saturday morning ‘Clearlakes Chorale‘ practice this morning. We don’t normally make these occasional ‘makeup’ Saturday morning practices. But another member needed a ride and Devanee had missed this Thursday night practice because she was sick.

So I got there at 9:12 am, for the 9:30 practice, which was quite a feat since I would normally still be in bed.

Well, I was going to get my walk in. It was wonderful. So different walking when it is light.

There wasn’t many people on the trail. Going out just two families for the first 300 yards of the trail and then one lone figure walking a dog on Whitten Neck Road. Coming back I passed one teenager on his cell and a lady walking her dog. So, as ever, I had the trail much to myself. I like that. BIG DIFFERENCE. The birds were out chirping and calling out. That was nice. At night there are no bird calls. Just the faraway, thump and hum of car tires. The snow was, of course, more melted and soggy. Made it a bit harder to walk. I had taken the precaution of bringing an extra pair of socks since I had a feeling my feet would be getting wet. I was right.

I just can’t stress how wonderful this trail is. You owe it to yourself, if you are anywhere close to Wolfeboro, to walk it. You will THANK me.

Enjoy.
