While I have been critical of ‘The Baysiders’ often shameless reporting in the past, and for its Editor bragging in print about speeding at 90 mph (which is criminal speeding), it would be churlish not to give them credit for their groundbreaking efforts to bring to us news in 3D (albeit only if you happen to have the latest version of Google Glasses).

Wow. Reading News in 3D is brilliant. Wow. It is there hovering in space. You want to reach out and touch it. I am hooked, just as I am with 3D movies. I can’t wait for the whole paper to be in 3D. Yes, you need Google Glasses but I assume everybody in Alton, who can read, already has these.

What is even better is that this is 3G, i.e., 3rd generation, 3D printing. The two images, as was the case pre-Google Glasses, don’t have to be of the same size and side-by-side. To conserve print space one image can be smaller and offset — as was graphically demonstrated with this trial. The Glasses compensate for it. Actually I think they can take this further. Given that the glasses can magnify they don’t have to print the stories as big.

This is great. Made my day. I need to go and read it again in 3D.

Yes, you need the latest Google Glasses to see it in 3D.

Otherwise you just see two stories … kind of side-by-side, and slightly offset.

Here is what the OLD ‘1G 3D’ looked like
— as was popular with ‘girlie’ PC-incorrect, PCs.
