This WMUR story last night got me paranoid
(as it would).
Checked ‘Glacial Energy’. There rates are exorbitant!
Talk about exploitation.
Higher than PSNH.
40% higher than my current $0.0789 (12 month) rate with ENH.
This is criminal.
ENH’s current rates.
I checked my March 2014 bill. Still paying the rate I contracted with in October 2013 with ENH. Doesn’t mean anything after the ‘Resident Power‘ fiasco, this time, last year.
Stay vigilant. Very vigilant.

This is a must watch documentary,
especially IF you are Catholic.
There appears to be a FULL LENGTH, i.e., 1:25, version of it, for FREE, on YouTube. There is also a paid, $1.99, posted by PBS. I skimmed through the FREE version. Quality isn’t great but it all seems to be there.
Please watch. You owe it to yourself and to humankind.

It is a book for those that have always wanted to know more about this Pope, the one that convoked Vatican II, but had felt that they did not have the time to read one of the many traditional biographies of his life. This ‘101’ book is designed for the pell-mell lifestyle of the ‘Facebook age’. It is ideally suited to be read on mobile devices, in bits and pieces, in planes, trains, coffee shops and parks.
My second ‘101 Facts & Trivia’ book — the first having been about comets last year. This book differs from the comet book in that it is in ‘Q & A‘ format. Those that reviewed the book, as I was writing it, said that they liked this ‘interactivity’ since it made them feel more connected.

So this is what I have been doing for the last 5 months. Started on October 5, 2013. I was working on “Popes: 101 Facts & Trivia” when I thought of this book during my morning slog up Prospect Mountain Road. It was my ‘Road to Damascus’ moment. No, alas, there were no blinding lights nor did I fall on the ground — though there was a horse, watching me, nearby. I already knew a fair amount about this pope. But it was fun to do more research. I like this pope. He was a very likeable person. There hasn’t been a pope like him since — Francis but a pale imitation (who is trying his very best to emulate this one).
Check out the book. Amazon, as ever, provides their ‘Look Inside‘ feature.
I published it late last night, around 11:45 pm. Amazon had it up, fully listed and priced in 40 minutes. So I was able to see it ‘live’ before I went to bed. That was a bonus.

I finally finished watching it tonight. It was so good that I finished watching it rather than my 40 minutes of ‘daily’ cricket between 10 and 10:40 pm (before I take the dogs out for the last time and then start on my 3rd shift of work).
Given that I too have been following these events, e.g. ‘Vatileaks‘, pedophilia and ‘Vatican Bank‘, and writing about them for years, there wasn’t anything new per se to me. But, it was interesting to see actual people, many Italian, talking about them on TV — rather than just reading about it.
The child abuse is very disturbing — even after all these years. Amazes me that so many Catholics choose to turn a blind eye to it.
I was aware about the degree of homosexuality in the Church, at the Vatican and the curia. Lets face it, there have been gay popes — even in my lifetime! The whole celibacy thing is a farce. To be honest I don’t trust any male who has taken or is willing to take a vow of celibacy. I don’t think that a normal, healthy male can be celibate — or to be more precise chaste (and then you still run into the issue of self-gratification). Sick. Sick. Sick.
The money laundering stuff is so old, but germane.
Though harsh, they portrayed, ‘my MAN‘, My Lord Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., fairly and accurately. I, like Benedict XVI (#266), feel that he did what he had to do in what were difficult circumstances. Without him Benedict XVI would not have been pope as long as he was. Bertone ran the papacy for Benedict.
All said, this really is a MUST WATCH if you aren’t familiar with the cancers within the Catholic Church. It will enlighten you. It will empower you.
