Friday, Feb. 21 UPDATE.
This is a BETTER video.
Appears CNBC edited the original!
Since I watch CNBC, without fail, from 8:20 to 8:59 every weekday morning, I happened to see this interview live.
It was good. It was good natured. That was gratifying since it would have been a shame if CNBC, as they are wont to do (since they are bullies at heart), piled up on this nice guy. I think credit, as ever, probably should go to Michelle Caruso-Cabrera. She is a true diplomat who actually knows about the world beyond the borders of New Jersey.
Joe Kernen, who I am sure is a lifelong KKK member, is so stupid. He compares the GDP of the Netherlands with that of the U.S. — given that he doesn’t realize that they have 1/20th the population. Then he yet again shows his VAST ignorance by not realizing that Holland is the home to some HUGE worldwide corporations: Royal Dutch Shell, Philips, Unilever, Amstel etc. Becky Quick, another of the impressive FEMALEs at CNBC, quickly put him right — as she and Michelle seem to do all the time. At the end of the interview Steve Liesman, who no longer tells as many lies since I have been on his case (via e-mails to him), comments that Joe got the Bronze in that interview. What Kernen really got was his fat ass truly whipped.
A definite must watch for Americans to understand how insular and jingoistic they are when it comes to sports. Becky Quick, again to her credit (though she doesn’t need any), points out about the absurdity of a ‘World Series’ where no other country, other than the U.S., is allowed to compete.
Don’t agree with Jillert that American Football is vicious. As Becky, yet again, correctly, points out Rugby is much more vicious — and here is what is strange. They do play Rugby in Holland, though not as well as its neighbours to the West (across the Channel) or those to the South (when you jump across Belgique).
My original assertion yesterday that Holland’s population was 1/5th that of the U.S. was wildly wrong! SORRY. I have been dashing off these posts in a great hurry of late. Trying to finish and publish my next book. So trying to devote as much time to the book while NOT ignoring this blog. That is what happens when I rush.
But, that brings up the other AMAZING thing. Holland with a population 1/20th that of U.S. has won 22 medals at Sochi to what I think is 25 for the U.S. and 24 for Russia. That is pretty remarkable.

Wow, this is like finding out that the Easter Bunny is not really the Energizer Bunny trying to make more money or that the Tooth Fairy is gay and gives kids of same-sex parents $2 per tooth.
Just the other day [i.e., Feb. 6], at the outstanding “Red Hot Chilli Pipers” concert, they, alas, made a POINT of going out of their way to show what today’s young Scotsmen wear underneath their kilts. I was disappointed, but even more for the kids. They took away the mystique. I had actually meant to talk to them about that.
Now this. I am JUST hoping that this is also but just a Pope Francis idiosyncrasy and that prior popes did go commando as they should. The cassock goes all the way down to the ground. Don’t get it. Pope’s wearing trousers. What next. A pope that will let in divorced Catholics?

To be fair to him, and he is 65 now, he is doing this for his country. He was probably thinking of his mother all the time he was gingerly going through the motion. [There is an old, a very old, joke, maybe even an adage by now, in their that most of you won’t get. Sorry.]
I was thinking. Pretty tricky with all those swords and Charles prone to stumble. If our future King had got pricked by a sword, notwithstanding that it would have been an accident (he hope), it could have been tricky. Where was Camilla. Now that would have been a sight to see. Camilla with a sword — but I am sure many have seen that.
