**** UPDATE ****
Alton Central School (ACS) at 9:37 p.m. does the DEED … at last.
Aren’t these coincidences as with the ACS Handbook Cover so funny & strange.
Given that nobody at ACS reads this stupid blog or pays any attention to Deanna’s Facebook rants it is but a coincidence, that after waiting 8 hours post Prospect, ACS goes public WITHIN an hour of this post — which by the way was read by quite a few people as soon as it was posted!
What is important is that they finally gave the parents a heads-up.
Wouldn’t it have been so much MORE CONSIDERATE if, like Prospect, ACS too had notified the parents earlier in the day to give them as much time as possible to make arrangements for the kids coming home early.
The ACS Administration could do well to follow Samuel Langhorne Clemens’ famous saying:
“Always do right. This will gratify some people and astonish the rest.”
So what is the deal here?
What is the ACS Administration playing at, especially given the rather incongruous phone calls and e-mails, this afternoon, around 2:15 pm, saying that they will notify us of an early school closing ASAP — but no later than 10 am on Thursday.
Yes, I understand that there are a lot of politics involved in school closing, 2 hour delays, early releases given that a few minutes here and there can make all the difference whether it was a ‘snow day’ of not.
This doesn’t make much sense to me — but that is true when it comes to much of what this much vaunted administration does.
Deanna informs me that she has done her own post on Facebook, yet again more strident than what you will read here.
Yes, I understand that Prospect is a few miles away from ACS and on slightly higher ground. But, does Mr. William (Bill) Lander really think that Alton is going to get two separate storms: one for Prospect and another for ACS?
While I appreciate that the buses can indeed do two separate trips, one for Prospect and the other for ACS, I really don’t think we want them trying to squeeze in two bus trips Thursday afternoon with this storm looming.
So what gives. Is it just that Principal Leggett likes to make 5 am phone calls so that we are impressed by her dedication to duty. I am disconnecting the phone tonight! I prefer not to hear her voice that early in the morning.
Strange. Very strange.
