This just appeared in my in-box.
Supposedly posted on the ACS Facebook page.
I recognize the stilted style.
Well this is ACS.
Seems to be a slightly different tone to what was being implied yesterday.
Testing INDIVIDUAL people! Tell me more. Did they draw blood and do a blood test?
So who were these INDIVIDUALS?
Not my kids … for sure.
NO Carbon Monoxide detected in the building.
Gets curiouser and curiouser.
I am happy that the teachers got a day off to catch up on their Christmas shopping. They deserve it.
P.S. School, alas, is back to normal Friday.
I wanted the kids to have 2 extra days of Christmas vacation. Damn
I JUST Got Insurance Through Healthcare.gov! It Has To Be THE SEASON FOR MIRACLES. Took Me 9 Applications, 26 Calls & Over 14 Hours.
.by Anura Guruge
5th attempt ONLINE.
2 paper applications.
2 applications via Call Center.
Started on October 1, 2013.
26 Calls, 3 alone TODAY.
But, here was the KEY.
On my 3rd call I finally, after 20 minutes of pleading, groveling, cajoling and nearly crying
I managed to get her to totally DELETE the two applications they had for me online.
Those were ones I had ‘completed’ in October when the system didn’t work.
Once those were deleted … and she hung up … I started again.
I will CONFESS, though I hate to do so …
System is SLICK. Night and day compared to original system!
So getting REAL, American (as opposed stupid but money hungry, conniving Canucks) to do the software did make a difference.
So, all I can say … is that the bloody things does now work.
But, I still have to wait to get a paper bill etc. etc. So still plenty of time to screw things up.
Since I am aucker for the ‘Fiddler‘ lets round this up with ….
Avast, You Have No Choice, Auto-Renewal: Be Careful. Very Careful. Avast Will Bill Credit Card BUT Not Auto-Renew!
.by Anura Guruge
This e-mail tells its own story …
I had to contact them, phone, chat, e-mail & TROUBLE TICKET
before I got this response — finally sending me the license file.
They had charged my Credit Card full 5 days earlier. They sent me an e-mail saying auto-renew complete.
They lied. All it meant was that they were charging my Credit Card.
I get 4 paid Avast Internet Security license — a 3 pack and a single.
It is the ‘single’ that has auto-renew — because I got no option. The ‘single’ license is on my 13-year old daughter’s PC.
So I don’t see the status of that PC often. When it said auto-renewed I assumed all was OK.
Not so. Avast was disabled — 5 days after they charged my Credit Card.
I then spent 40 minutes, calling, online chat, filling in trouble ticket.
Avast is becoming downright scammy.
Kingswood Regional High School, Wolfeboro, N.H.: Holiday Concert 2013 — December 18th, With The Ever Bubbling Bobby Burns

We were so glad to hear that they rescheduled the concert from Saturday, due to the storm,
because we really wanted to go and couldn’t do so on Saturday given
the conflict with the Clearlakes Chorale concert
(given that Devanee sings in that).
It was impressive as we had expected. We went last year, for the first time, and liked what we saw and heard.
Glad we went.
Yes, we know Bobby Burns the Music Director and Conductor as well as a couple of the kids
since they also sings with Clearlakes.
These kids are good and so is Robert Burns
(and yes, he is named after the Great Man).
It always amazes me how the prosperity and pedigree of Wolfeboro, the Oldest Summer Resort in the U.S.,
is, unmistakably, reflected by these kids, the staff and the opulent setting.
Yet again, BRAVO Wolfeboro.
Two, possibly three, choir pieces were Acapella since Robert wanted to showcase the
voices of the kids sans help from a piano. It worked and it was good.
Robert wanted us to savor and appreciate some ‘crunchy melodies‘. We did.
The Concert Band belies their age and experience. They played some long pieces — very professionally.
A great credit to them, the staff, Bobby Burns and Wolfeboro.
It was mid-week and there wasn’t as many people as their should be — always bearing in mind that it is a
I am glad we went. You should try to make it next year.
That Bright ‘Star’ Above The Moon Tonight, Over New Hampshire, Is Jupiter. It Was Alongside Yesterday. Looks Like Venus, But It Is Not.
…by Anura Guruge
Yes, earlier in the month it was Venus that was close to the Moon.
Now it is Jupiter, because they all move about — nothing stays still up there.
Venus is still around and visible in the Southwest sky, very close to the horizon, but setting BELOW the horizon by 7:30 pm. 5:30 pm, directly SW, is a good time to see Venus.
Enjoy Jupiter. It was spectacular last night — beautiful opposite conjunction with the full Moon. Today it will be above the Moon. While you are at it take a gander at Orion and soak in its grandeur.
