This is where I raise a ‘Point Of Order‘ as to why WE, i.e., Joe Smuck the Public (some of us actual Tax Payers),
can’t see the document that is being discussed —
though it was PASSED, unanimously, at the August 8, 2013 Board ‘workshop’.
We have it on video.
That most documents will be made available to the Public.

Listen carefully, if YOU CAN, to what the Superintendent William (Bill) Lander has to say.

CLASSIC.

Jumping around!

Might actually not be a bad thing …

But, also LISTEN carefully. He says the document that I am inquiring about is in the handout.

IT WASN’T.

Now … we have this … which I already posted … as another Alton’s Funniest Video … Lander saying ‘He doesn’t know‘ what happened to the document.

Amazing.

It would actually be funny if it wasn’t so sad.

Alton Central School (ACS) Board IF They Are Serious About Public Transparency Should Have This Tape Subtitled.

This was a pivotal Alton Central School (ACS) Board Meeting when it comes to relationships with the PUBLIC.

This will, forever, be remembered by three (3) of us from the PUBLIC that were there [plus our two kids] as the GLASS BREAKING meeting.

This was the meeting where the Board is trying to further GAG the public during the two grudgingly permitted public input sessions. I for one am NOT going to attend anymore. IF public debate is NOT permitted I am not going to waste my time — and my time is valuable as my achievements in any given year publicly testify.

It is superbly ironic that this meeting where limits of interactive public discourse gets debated SUPPOSEDLY has a video with a bad audio track!

As a professional cynic I have my doubts. It really, really serves this Board ideally NOT to have the public hear all of what happened during this meeting.

You can’t hardly hear some of the people talking.

As the e-mail above shows the Superintendent CLAIMED that they are going to resolve this.

Maybe the sound has improved a TAD. But, you still can’t follow much of what transpired at this meeting — even at full-volume on my Bose speakers attached to my Desktop. Forget hearing it on a laptop.

I request that the Board have this video subtitled SO all can follow what happened.

Only in terms of towns that reported ‘in time’ this year and last. See PDF below to see the MISSING towns.

I do not have the motivation or the time to go and find these rates. I do this strictly for fun — mainly to see where Alton, where I now live, comes in.

Concord, obviously, has folks who are paid big bucks to do this type of analysis. So, if you want all the gaps filled in ask Concord or do it yourself. You will feel good.

I really don’t have the time. There are BOOKS to be written …

One day ago it was the most amazing statement that Rugby was not violent.

Then this today. As the CNN article points out, up front, this is beyond controversial. There is absolutely no basis to believe that these are the bones of St. Peter.

In reality, there is no historical or Biblical documentation or evidence that St. Peter ever came to Rome! Plenty of documentation that St. Paul did. So that alone raises questions. Why was St. Peter not mentioned if he was there along with St. Paul?

That St. Peter was the first ‘pope’, which he really wasn’t, is a tradition rather than a fact. That is known.

Yes, many, many relics are not obviously what they claim to be.

But, this, in the 21st century, is a definite test of credulity.

I had NOT expected this pope to have gone along with this.

Actually this is the 3rd VERY STRANGE thing the pope has done just this week. That “prayer of “WHY”‘ was very strange too!

Hhhhmmm! Not good.

There were 4 basic requirements that I was after:

1. I wanted to be able to seamlessly dial-out on either my TDS landline or VoIP (via Google Voice) from the same handset — from anywhere in the house.

2. I didn’t want a VoIP service that required a computer.

3. I didn’t want a VoIP service that charged a monthly fee.

4. I wanted Deanna’s cell phone to ring on the 5 handset house system so that she would not miss calls.

Yes, the Panasonic we have supports 2 cell phones — but I am very happy for my cell phone NOT to ring all over the house. Those that have tried to call me on my cell have learned that I am one of these very rare liberated folks that is not tied to their cell. My cell and I are not often in the same place and I am noted for leaving the house without my cell. I can go for at least 3 days, sometimes, before I remember to check my cell. So, I don’t want my calls ringing through the house. IF I hear my cell — I do answer. If I don’t hear it, it goes to voice-mail.

The crux of this whole system is the OBi110 Voice Service Bridge. I found it serendipitously on Amazon when looking for devices that would give me Google Voice on a handset — as opposed to a laptop. The beauty of this unit is that it bonds an existing landline to VoIP. So far I have been very impressed. As I posted setting it so that Google Voice was the default was a hassle. But, one 20 second phone call fixed that. I am fairly sure that this is the way of the future.

The Panasonic Link-to-Cell is neat too. We haven’t used it much. When a call comes in on Deanna’s cell all these phone start ringing. Kind of funny.

And just incase you are wondering, yes, I designed and debugged networks way, way, way more complicated than this for 30 years. So this is a walk-in-the park for me.
