Remembrance Day 2013 Contribution By Gerry Malone — Tribute To His Uncle Gerald B. Malone.

This came in as a comment today.

I felt that it needed more visibility, so I am posting it here.

I love the video. That it starts with my beloved Winston wasn’t the only reason.
That speech gives me goosebumps and I was not even born during WW II.
Enjoy. Savor. Reflect. Remember.

Gerry Malone’s comment:

“As a retired Canadian and member of the RCAF, this is my contribution for Remembrance Day 2013 as Canada remembers our Canadian Forces.
Feel free to share.”

Thank YOU, Gerry. All the very best.

I e-mailed him last year suggesting that he wear a poppy in 2013.

Here is that post.

So, being a very diligent, methodical, ultra organized person, I was going to remind him.

Foiled again. I guess they are not that good with Websites. They should hire me. I can do Web stuff half asleep and often do.

Of course I have been wearing it, with pride and delight, when I was doing my two Comet ISON presentations: Laconia Monday night and Alton, Gilman Library, last night.

Monday night I even talked about it. One of the ladies in the audience had sold ‘Buddy Poppies‘ and was very familiar with the tradition. She told me a bunch of stuff I didn’t know.

I checked the pictures from last night. I am wearing it during the presentation.

When I got home it was gone. I checked the car. No luck. Tonight I went back to the library and checked the room. No luck. The librarian wasn’t there (and I have e-mailed her) and maybe she picked it up. Deanna is going to stop by in the morning. [We were out all day today.]

I am bummed. Yes, I still have another one. But, I don’t want to lose that! That is stored in a box.

Last night, I bought two poppy pins on e-bay, one from home (i.e., Britain). But, I won’t have them before 11/11.

We went to the local Legion HQ to see if they were selling Buddy Poppies. I couldn’t even get in. I guess they don’t let brown folks in. I don’t blame them.

I am really not that partial to the Buddy Poppy design with the ‘green’ in the middle. Love the Canadian, pressed flower, rigid, design with the black middle. I will try and see if I can order some online.

So …

Bummer.

clairvoyantThis is per a comment posted against my last post. I cannot vouch for its veracity.

I can only ONLY go by what is PUBLISHED on the State Website. And as I clearly stated,  I checked at 4:50 pm, and included a screenshot, Alton did NOT appear in the list.

I also JUST checked the Town Website. Can’t find rate on it.

Suffice to say the Town hasn’t told me anything though they know that I visited the Town Hall twice and made two phone calls asking for the rate.

So, I do not in any way feel bad that I did NOT know the rate — as a comment indicates.

I have, despite my manifold talents, never claimed to be clairvoyant. You can go check.

IF I can get it confirmed I will let you know.
