I like most Brits having nothing but undisguised admiration, respect and gratitude for the Gurkhas — who for so long have fought beside us.

I mentioned them in this post about British Commonwealth Troops in WW I (from which the Poppy Tradition arises) since they were such an integral force in that war — as in so many other wars.

So today I went in search of Gurkhas with Poppies pictures.
I lucked out. I am so happy.

From the ‘NepaliSamajUK.com’ photo gallery. Click to access. They have LOADS more pictures.

That this was Remembrance Day for ex-Gurkhas at Llanelli, Wales just made my day! Many don’t appreciate it, but I am Welsh. My underlying accent is not from Ceylon, it is a Ceylon accent modulated by Welsh. I spent 3 of my most riotous years of my life in Swansea, Wales. Llanelli wasn’t far away. I have been to Llanelli, visited the Rugby club and even more importantly was able to say ‘Llanelli’ correctly, saying like a true Welshman.

So this great, but I always associate Llanelli with greatness — not just on the rugby field.

I already said my piece about this two weeks ago.

We are now going into the 2nd week of November. Soon it will be Thanksgiving.

It is TOO LATE to realistically start a DI team. It is not fair on the kids!

DI is a lot of work. Hours expended matters and counts.

When you go to the first regional meet it is NOT FAIR on the kids if they are competing against kids who have had a month or more of lead time.

I watch the kids’ eyes as they look at their peers from other schools competing. You can read their emotions. When they see performances vastly superior to their own, PARTLY because they spent much, much, much more time, you can see the awe and disappointment in their eyes. They would have liked to have done something like that too — but they never had the time.

That is why I am OPPOSED to having teams that start late. DI is for the kids. Don’t burden them with disadvantages even before they start.

Then there is my other pet peeve. Why can’t this principal order some of her teachers to be the DI coaches? I am a great believer that each DI team should be coached by a school teacher assisted by a parent.

The Number Of Unaffiliated Parents On Alton Central Strategic Plan Committee — Just ONE (1)?

nonaffiliatedparents

Yes, the school will immediately claim that there are ‘x’ other parents on the Committee — but as far as we can tell they are ALL on the ACS payroll, as teachers or support staff.

While their status as parents is very true, being affiliated with ACS does make a difference as to how objective and OPEN one can be.

So …

Depending on how you count, and whether or not you count the facilitator and admin staff (that come and go), the numbers, as far as I have been told, comes somewhere between 22 and 19

What is key is just ONE (1) unaffiliated parent!

That the meetings were scheduled, back-to-back, Thursday & Friday, to run from 8 to 4 is a sure way to eliminate a ton of parents from attending.

So, PAID ACS staff, make up the numbers — and they hire substitutes, as necessary, to fill the gaps!

If you think this is right and proper MORE power to you.

I can’t remember the last time I lied or the last time anybody could prove that I got my facts very wrong. I try to get my facts right and with a paper trail stretching back 35 years covering 350+ printed publications and 21+ printed books, not to mention quite a few interviews, it is easy to verify that claim.

So, IF I stand up and say I did not get an e-mail, it would behoove many to believe me at my word. IF I was going to lie or make a false statement it would not be over something as trivial as the reception of an e-mail.

IF you SCREWED up and didn’t send me the e-mail
and then thought you did
…. Ha! Ha! Ha!

Notice my e-mail or even name does NOT APPEAR on that e-mail.

It was sent to Deanna. When Deanna FORWARDED my original e-mail, because there was a prior claim that my original had not been received, she CC’ed me. We decided to sent it from her incase my e-mail had been blocked — which might explain the claim that my original was not received.

The person who responded didn’t KNOW or forgot to hit REPLY ALL.

Bottom line: I never got the e-mail
because it was never sent to me.

Q.E.D.

So …

As ever, I was 100% right in the statement I made.

Deanna never forwarded the e-mail or told me about it. She is under no obligation. She assumed that I got my own.

She has her own e-mail I have mine. Unlike some other couples we don’t pour over each other’s e-mails.

Between us we probably get upwards of 60 e-mails a day. We don’t cross-check and say did you get this or did you get that.

So this is FUNNY, if not for the fact that it is NOT FUNNY.

Stay tuned.
