‘Nancy’, from Canada, who has provided me with much of the Poppy material published on this blog sent me, very kindly, two poppies and some other related mementoes earlier this year.
Today I wore one of them for the first time. We had to attend two meeting at Alton Central School (ACS) today — and I thought it would be a good time to wear my poppy with pride.
It felt good, very good, to wear a Red Poppy.
I realized I haven’t worn one in about 25 years.
I also lucked out. My timing, as an e-mail from Nancy later in the day confirmed, was spot on.
It is acceptable to wear a poppy after the last Friday of October. So, yes, I got it right.
I will be wearing this now till November 11.
So this is good. I reminded Deanna that I wanted the ruby poppy, from the U.K. Legion, for Christmas. I need to get them to agree on some realistic shipping. Right now they want MORE for the shipping than for the pin!
Thank YOU, Nancy. I really appreciate the Poppy.
