Did any of you read this little (and little indeed is the right word) article.
Does it, ANYWHERE, tell you WHO ‘Marty Cornelissen‘ is?
That is it. Simple as that. All I want to know is who is Marty Cornelissen, what are his credentials and how did he come to have all these pictures.
This pathetic article does not tell us anything about Marty.
That is a crime. Anytime you write about a person given a presentation you should state who he is and why is doing the presentation.
This is a joke.
That said, their ‘contributing writer‘, Elizabeth Cantrall, who wrote up the June 20, 2013, Alton Central School Board meeting, is cut from a whole different cloth. She is GOOD. She is very good. I had read one of her pieces before and immediately commented: ‘Wow. This is good. So different to the usual uncooked tripe we get served …‘.
I actually got to meet and talk to Elizabeth Cantrall — mainly because she wanted my name, because I stood up and spoke. She is impressive. Others agree.
Now if we could just get her to cover all the Alton meetings.
But, I doubt that will happen. ‘The Braysider’ does not appear to have too many female writers. Shame.
There Is Some FREE ESPN Cricket On DirecTV, Including 12 Minute Highlights From ICC Champions Trophy 2013, India, England, Sri Lanka etc.
.by Anura Guruge
I happened to do a search on ‘Cricket’ on DirecTV last night and got the above results.
I watched two of the 12 minute ICC Champions Trophy 2013 highlight packages: England vs. New Zealand and Sri Lanka vs. India.
The coverage was appalling. ESPN has no idea. They start by telling you the outcome of the match. The two commentators are basically inarticulate and one of them has such a thick accent I can’t even work out whether he is talking English or some foreign language. Never heard of them either, like who the heck is ‘Ricardo Powell‘? Is he some Cuban that played softball for a women’s league in drag? They sure are not Michael Holding and Jeffrey Dojon.
You can’t cover even a 24 over ODI in 12 minutes. It was totally unsatisfactory.
That ESPN has cricket rights is a bloody travesty. I blame the Indians. They had to have been responsible.

#46. The Genie HR-34 definitely has issues with sound, the huge fluctuations in volume, from program to program, is beyond insane.
#47. DirecTV has stuck a stupid ‘IEDA’ channel, that just appears to run (rather tame) bra-fitting infomercials, in between the two History channels — which is very annoying and stupid on the part of DirecTV.
#48. DirecTV has added a ‘Wimbledon mix‘ channel, close to CNN on 202 — but when I accessed it yesterday evening it said that there was no programming on it!
#49. I have definitely come to the conclusion that the Genie HR-34 was not beta-tested (i.e., tested by customers) prior to it being sold to suckers like me — what I seem to be doing is beta-testing this incredibly poorly designed and implemented box, for free, for DirecTV. Do NOT, I stress, DO NOT, get the Genie. It is an untested box with lots of technical bugs.
#50. ‘The Tips & Tricks’ brochure that I got with the Genie HR-34 (albeit with the cover ripped off by the installer) is way out-of-date and appears to refer to a prior machine!
June 2013 In NH Lakes Has Been Rainy & Gloomy, But Not A Patch On 1998 Or Even 2006. ‘No Wake’ July 4, 1998!
.by Anura Guruge
>> June 29 water temp. Halfmoon Lake — June 30, 2013.
No question this has been a dismal June for us in the Lakes Region. I have yet to go swimming and that, I am sure, is a record going back to 1992 — which is when I moved to this area (and always had lake access to at least one of the lakes).
Cracks me up that so many folks around here can’t remember 1998. That is when we had a LAKE-WIDE, No Wake — even at 9 am on July 4, 1998. I remember, I know — because I lived waterfront, in Meredith (and as is my wont had my finger on the pulse of NH politics). In 1998 the ‘No Wake’ was hugely political. Business owners wanted it lifted — at least for the 4th. Property owners, who were suffering tangible damages, did not want to incur more damage and was dead against having it lifted. Various groups were lobbying, by phone, Governor Jeanne Shaheen. I had a foot in both camps. I can’t remember all the details. I do remember that she lifted the ban in the morning. Then, if I recall, she rescinded it later in the day — not that it mattered; it was raining and nobody wanted to be out on the lake anyway.
i think the Lake-Wide No Wake stood for weeks. I used to have a jet ski in those days and would, most days, rain or shine, go for a spin around Meredith bay just ahead of dusk. A number of times I was followed home by Marine Patrol but was never stopped — because I knew the laws and they could tell that I knew the laws. They were just hoping that I would get careless. It was fun. Those days I had a ski-lift for parking that jet ski. The water was so high that it snapped the lift — the waves causing the jet ski to thump down on the lift.
So, I am not thrilled about this June, but having lived around here for 22 years I am kind of sanguine.
I had heard that all those ‘No Wake‘ signs popping up on beaches all around The Lake took a toll on Catholic funeral ‘protocol’ (and family relations) in Massachusetts. Many from Mass. never having seen ‘No Wake’ signs before kind of assumed (as Catholics from Mass are prone to do) that these must be signs from God or at least from the Pope. So if they were supposed to be attending a wake they assumed that these new signs gave them an out. I am serious. Go ask around.

I have yet to go swimming in the lake this year.
That is beyond unusual. Typically I start swimming, on a daily basis, by mid-June.
The air temperatures and all this rain we keep on getting has really done a job on keeping the water temperature down. I took a pool thermometer with me when we went to the beach this evening. I kept it submerged for quite a long time. It was just above 70°F. Around 73°F. That is not good. 70°F is classed cold for a lake.
I am not happy. I checked Lake Winnipesaukee temps. They are still below 70 — as is to be expected given that it is a much deeper lake.
The kids have swum, but just in the last few days.
