I hope some of you at least heard about this anniversary — the key word here being ‘Modern Statutes’, which in this case means the passing of the landmark 16th Amendment, which was ratified on February 3, 1913.

I think, and I could be wrong, that ‘Form 1040’ came into be in 1913. From what I see ‘Tax Day’ in those days was March 1.

True enough the instructions for the 1040 were only 1 page long. But, the 1040 per se was already 3 pages long — though each page is much, much simpler than today.

16th Amendment.

Leonhard Euler [April 15, 1707 to Sept. 18, 1783] was a Swiss born mathematician and physicist who was a towering figure in the fields of calculus and graph theory. He is also considered to be the father of  mathematical analysis, introducing much of the mathematical notation that is used today, including those for representing functions.

This is the first U.S. Google Doodle since April 2, 2013.
