Would appear that Google, atypically, appears to be gun shy after all the flack they received about the Cesar Chavez Doodle on Good Friday.
Other than the amazing SCRATCH Doodle they did on April 1, April Fool’s Day, they have stayed away from U.S. Doodles.
But they have been doing Doodles for their overseas markets. I was particularly struck by the April 9, 2013 one, in Hong Kong, for Hung Xun Tao’s 85th birthday. I have never heard of him. Appears he was a famous famous Chinese children’s literature writer and theorist. Also appears that Google, as they have done in the past, got his name wrong! It is supposed to be Hong Xuntao. Look at that Doodle, which I reproduce above. Notice anything unusual? ‘Google’ does appear, somewhat, BUT it is unusually muted and blurred. They never do that?
