Turbulent, But Mainly Unnoticed, Times At The Vatican, Senior Cardinals, Sarah & Pell, Rebuked By Pope Plus More …

by Anura Guruge

With all of the turmoil around, not to mention the U.S. Presidential Election shenanigans, much is happening at the Vatican that is going unnoticed and uncommented.

True, in the global scheme of things, and especially in the context of all the machinations that have happened at the Vatican over two millennia, this is still ‘small potatoes’.
However, I feel obliged to bring it to your attention.

I am not sure WHAT Cardinal Robert Sarah was thinking? Did he think the Pope might not notice or let him get away with it?
Even if Francis didn’t notice, and that is possible, there would have been enough around him that noticed and cared.
This was pretty stupid on the part of Sarah.
What was he thinking?

Pell, at best, is on borrowed time.
He will probably be sent home soon.

But check out the SNIPPETS I include.

Google for more. A lot happening on the banks of the storied Tiber
(in addition to the routine retrieval of dead bodies).

“Far from the Madding Crowd” (2015), Now On HBO, Very Appealing To The Senses.

by Anura Guruge

Click to access the IMdb.com listing for this very appealing 2015 movie.

I saw it on the HBO schedule and recorded it — thinking it would be good for the kids. This week we watched it during our ‘Family TV’ time. It was outstanding in every way. Lusciously shot with vivid color and amazing detail. Great story, pleasing characters and engaging actors. With “Downton Abbey” (alas) now over “Doctor Thorne” and now this help assuage the need for good British drama. Talking of which, “Suffragette“, which was also recently on HBO, is really good and educational too. And “Carey Mulligan” stars in both.

So check out these movies. You will be glad I told you to. Enjoy.

Today, July 15, 2016, When Availability For Pentax K-70 Was To Be Announced, Confusion Reigns.

by Anura Guruge

Today, July 15, 2016, was said to be when Ricoh
was said to announce the availability of the
rather impressive, and competitively priced,
Pentax K-70.

There are claims that it will start shipping
a week from today, i.e., July 22, 2016.

However, Amazon, this morning started
saying “Out of Stock”.

Ideally they should have said
“Available as of July 22, 2016”.

Fidelity Website Highlighting Its “2016 Best Online Broker” Award.

by Anura Guruge

fidelity2016bestbanner

I am glad that this, hard-to-miss, ‘splash’ appeared on my Fidelity logon screen this morning.

I had not heard that they had won this award. It was awarded by Barron’s who rated 16 firms in total. You can find the Barron’s article about this award here.

That Fidelity came in #1 does NOT surprise me in the slightest.

As far as I am concerned Fidelity has been the “Best Online Broker” 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 & 2016!

Yes, I am a huge fan of Fidelity and it isn’t as if I oblivious to other brokers. I used to be with Charles Schwab and still, on occasion, logon and use TDAmeritrade — albeit on behalf of a relative.

That Schwab came in #8 does not surprise me either. They used to be very good in the mid- to late 1990s. Then something drastic went wrong. TDAmeritrade at #4 is probably ‘right’ though I would contend that they could be higher — but not #1. They have really got their act together over the last 5 to 6 years.

Contrary to Headline There Is No Evidence, Whatsoever, That Female Orgasms Enhance Fertility.

Funniest thing.

The headline shouts that “it does help if you orgasm“.

Then the body of the article clarifies that.

The female having an orgasm has yet to be demonstrated as boosting the chances of her getting pregnant.

As millions of women will sadly testify it is very easy for a woman to get pregnant without ever having had an orgasm during sexual intercourse.

I actually talked about this, at length, as Fact #28 in my 2015 book
“”
