for ~2 weeks.
Main celebrations, in the U.S., will be on February 5, 2017
— the 2nd Sunday.

I can now confirm that there will be AT LEAST two full-blown Dragon Parades in Boston’s Chinatown on Sunday, February 21, 2016 — to celebrate the ‘Year of the Red Monkey‘ Chinese New Year.
Yes, there were some parades on Sunday, February 14, 2016 — Valentine’s Day — too. BUT, as I repeatedly point out Chinese New Year, around the World is celebrated across TWO (2) Sundays after the New Year. New Year was Monday, February 8, 2016. So Feb. 14 was the 1st Sunday. Feb. 21 is the 2nd.
We, as is our practice, always planned to go on the 2nd Sunday — Feb. 21, 2016 — since we have discovered that that is when most of the FUN takes place. I can now confirm that there will be at least 2 dragon parades on February 21, most likely starting around 11 am.
As far as I can deduce there is no central organizing group for these dragon parades. They kind of happen, organically — each done by a community club. So that is as much as I can tell you.
Basically Feb. 21 is still good.
IF you want to go but feel that you don’t know the ropes you can come with us. Seriously.
