Went to the Cape for a long weekend, March 1 – 3, 2019. We had booked it, to coincide with New Hampshire school vacations, a month ago. Given that it was winter we knew we could be taking a chance with the weather, but we were willing to risk it.

As it transpired there was quite the snowstorm at the Cape Friday night into Saturday afternoon. At least 5″, 8″ or more in some places. But, we are from New Hampshire and we are used to snow. So, we did venture out, on Saturday morning, in the snow. Went as far as Wellfleet — for lunch. The road were not plowed very well so the going was slow.

Despite the weather I turned into the ‘Cape Cod National Seashore‘. That is how we saw this light — in the snow. We went back the next day — Sunday. That was a beautiful day. Bright sunshine and clear, blue skies. You can tell which pictures were taken when. On Sunday we also got to visit the ‘Highland Light‘, further up north.

Enjoy.

Saw the sign for it, off Route 6, as we were driving, on Sunday, to Provincetown. I had to go and have a look. I like lighthouses. I am glad I turned off. Stately & dignified lighthouse.

We had quite the snowstorm at the Cape the day before. So, the ground was covered in fresh snow. First people we encountered were a young couple cross-country skiing around the golf course that surrounds the lighthouse site. The snow gave it a whole different perspective. Plus, it was a beautiful sunny day with clear blue skies. The picture, in Wikipedia, taken in the Summer looks so different. Hopefully one day I might be able to revisit when there isn’t any snow and there is greenery around.

As the last big picture above testifies, the lighthouse was moved inland, 450′, in 1996.
