Cute, Bear-Themed, All Sri-Lankan Valentine’s Video By ‘Kapruka.com’ — Of Cake Fame.

by Anura Guruge

Kapruka.com‘ is branching out. A first for them, and I am sure there will be many more down the road.

Cute. A tad chintzy, but that is the Sri Lankan-way. Definitely a good start.

This was the write-up that came in the e-mail promoting the video. Classic Sri Lankan English. Not even Trump can beat our English. Enjoy.

Just in the last ten weeks, or so, I have done three posts on the seriously impressive cakes, available in Sri Lanka (and just in Sri Lanka), thanks to ‘Kapruka.com‘.

These cakes are for Valentine’s Day — and that makes me GRIN for multiple reasons. This is a totally new holiday to Sri Lanka. Growing up, we had never heard of it. C’est la vie. All to do with the HUGE, multi-million (I suspect) Sri Lankan diaspora in the West. They are hell bent on sharing their holidays with those back home. Nothing wrong. Makes a lot of people very happy and Karuka very rich.

In case you are wondering I am nothing but a customer when it comes to Kapruka. Though I give them huge amount of publicity I get nothing from them. That is OK. They have never asked me to do these posts. I do them for YOU.

Just in the last few weeks I have done two posts on the seriously impressive cakes, available in Sri Lanka (and just in Sri Lanka), thanks to ‘Kapruka.com‘.

These cakes are for a Tamil holiday, ‘Thai Pongal’. It is not one I am familiar with. But, the cakes sure look good. So, I wanted to share them with you. Enjoy.

Oh, in case you are wondering, ‘Thai Pongal’, in 2019, starts on January 15 and goes on for 3 to 4 days. It is a harvest celebration.

Exactly a fortnight ago I raved about their 2018 Christmas cakes. Now it is their quite impressive New Year cakes.

I have said it before, I will say it again: “I wish these cakes, at these prices, were available in the U.S.“. Alas, not so. They are only available for delivery within Sri Lanka.

Well, I rave about these Kapruka cakes at least once year, either at Christmas, Sinhalese New Year or Easter. Do a search on ‘Kapruka‘ on this blog if you don’t believe me.

Over the years, when more of my relatives were alive, I used to be a real good Kapruka customer. Would order multiple cakes per year. I don’t avail myself to their services that much anymore — though I did send a cake in September.

The cakes have quite noticeably fancier and, alas, more expensive over the years! The latter was inevitable. Still, cheap compared to U.S. prices since delivery is included.

Just wanted to share these with you to inspire you.

For all the publicity that I give them, Kapruka, in typical Sri Lankan fashion, has never said thank you. C’est la vie.

Twelve or thirteen years ago when I first started using Kapruka it was mainly cakes — made and delivered in Sri Lanka.

Now they have branched out to all sorts of stuff and even trying out a fledgling ‘delivery in U.S.A.‘ service.

Noticed, in an e-mail from them that I received yesterday, that the latest offering seems to be sarees (also spelt ‘saris’). So I thought I would share it with you. Just in case you are wondering such bright, bold colors and designs are not unusual.
