I have nothing against vegans & vegetarians. I actually admire & envy them for their discipline, commitment & virtue. There was a time I wanted to be a vegetarian. Animal conservation is one of my deepest & long-held passions. So, there was a time, way, way back when I felt that I could not be as committed to animal conservation if I continued to eat meat & wear leather.
I am also a REALIST.
I realized very quickly that I could never be a vegetarian, let alone a vegan. Definitely, definitely NOT a vegan. Not meat. Not eggs. Not cakes. Not chocolates. CHEESE. Yes, Cheese. I love cheese. I can live for days on cheese. That said, I no longer eat much cheese! SMILE. I have cut back. Cheese was ONE of my poisons; why I constantly struggle with my weight. Now I only eat cheese every 4th day. 3 days WITHOUT cheese, then a day with cheese & then 3 days of absenteeism. Still need to lose weight, but it helps.
So, this post is not a dig at vegans. One of my BEST friends has been a strict vegan for nearly a year — & he has done real good. But, he is a better man that I (which is NOT difficult).
The only point I want to make is that WE would not be here if our ancestors were vegans. Ditto if they had all been gay. Simple, valid observation & point.
We are WE because of our unique & superior brains — much of that having to do with the size of our brain compared to the size of our body. We have BIG brains.
Meat helped our brains grow.
Maybe they might have grown without meat — BUT we will never know. Our ancestors ate meat with relish. Our brain size started increasing as they started eating meat. Was NOT a coincidence. You get more ‘energy’ from meat than from an equal weight of ‘salad’. Irrefutable.
Just an observation. Just wanted to make sure you had thought about it.
Racism isn’t just black & white.
Racism exists in all cultures. We have all heard, in the context of WWII, how racist the Japanese & Chinese are.
Brown folks like I can be terrible racist.
Just a couple of days ago I was in stitches reading about a famous, black West Indian cricket captain who was very aggrieved to discover that the nickname he was called by some of his Indian teammates when he was playing cricket in India was extremely racist. They, all brown (like I), was calling him a ‘blackie’. SMILE.
I am a racist — though, of course, I have a white wife (& she wasn’t the first). Actually, it is possible that I am more of a racist than my wife. She accuses me daily (if not hourly) of being judgemental.
So, what is this all about? What am I leading at.
I have, of course, been thinking. Race, quite rightly, is very much in the forefront. I have no issues with that.
Winston Churchill, and his statue in London, was in the news today. Got me thinking. Yes, Winston was probably slightly more of a racist than I, but by how much?
Lincoln must have had some racial biases. I am convinced that no adult can claim to be at ‘0’ when it comes to racism. I don’t think it is possible.
Most folks who knew my adoptive mother, & she knew a lot of people (given that 3,000 people attended her funeral, & that was just in Sri Lanka), would claim that she had to be the most inclusive person they had every encountered since she was her own mini-U.N. But, in private she was quite the racist. Not a nasty racist. Just a common or garden racist. Among other things she so did not want me to marry anyone white!
I think you are getting my drift.
I could be wrong, BUT I think if we can stay below the 40% mark we are doing good. Yes, of course, there will be those below 40%. I know a few that might qualify. The problem is with those that are beyond the 70% mark.
Oh, and all don’t forget that racist come in all colors.
This was a line in the outstanding ‘Brian Banks‘ movie that I raved about a couple of days ago.
This was NOT new to I. I knew this. Probably known this much of my life.
But, not sure whether YOU realize & appreciate this. Hence, why I am sharing.
Think about it. Think about it.
It is ALL in the mind. Nowhere else. All in the mind.
Happiness starts & ends in the mind.
Do not forget.
Reflect on it.
Another Awesome, Uplifting Story About Ultra High-Tech Cure For Some Types Of Blindness — You HAVE To Read.
This is so inspiring, awesome and uplifting. Just great that talented engineers are doing so much to help the blind gain some sight. Way back, when I first joined IBM, in the mid-1970s, I tried to do my bit. But, that was nothing. Nothing like this. So, glad. So, happy. Being in total darkness cannot be much fun though these brave people tough it out. Just seeing some light and some shape, to begin with, has to be such a relief. Literally, light at the end of the tunnel.
Second great story in two months. We must be making strides. I am delighted. Savor. Share. Contemplate.
This, quite literally, is mind-blowing. This is modern high-tech and medicine taken to unimaginable levels. Actually creating the images in the brain. If this was NOT mid-July you would think it was an April Fool’s prank. Please read … and be amazed.
Though I did 7-years of chemistry in school I am sure I never learnt the stuff I am finding out from this book. I am learning something new in nearly every paragraph and I love learning new things.
But, what I learned about Iodine last night gave me quite the scare.
Our brain needs iodine. Without iodine our brain doesn’t work as well as it should. For a start it impacts your memory.
But, here was the kicker. Most people get all the iodine they (and their brain) need from iodised salt — i.e., salt with iodine added to it.
And that was the problem. I AVOID salt and I have been on basically a salt-free diet since I was 7.
So, was this the reason I have always struggled with matters requiring intelligence. As I get older my brain, noticeably, is even more sluggish than it used to be.
So, had I been depriving my brain of iodine.
Well, iodine deficiency or not, I knew that I did get salt in my diet from salad dressings, ketchup, the TONS of ham I eat, the ZILLIONS of sausages I pack away etc. So, I was slightly assuaged. But, I wanted to do more research in the morning.
Morning came. I was thinking about it. Then I remembered that I take the Walmart-brand Centrum Silver for Men and have been taking it (or a ‘plain’ multivitamin prior to that) for decades. I went and checked the label. WOW. Iodine was on the label and I was supposedly getting 100% of what I am supposed to ingest. What a relief.
Again, this is probably not an issue for most of you. My issue was that I don’t imbibe in salt — iodised salt. That was what got me concerned.
This has me concerned.
I know and appreciate that Amazon knows EVERYTHING about me including that I rarely wear underwear.
They also know that I have been a dynamite, extremely reliable and loyal customer for nearly 20-years.
So, when they send me $70 of “Brain Octane Oil“, for FREE, unasked (never mind unsolicited), it gets me WORRIED.
What have they detected in my keystrokes? That I am not as decisive as I once was? That it takes me longer to place an order.
YIKES! I haven’t, as far as I know, screwed up TOO MUCH of late, i.e., returned stuff.
But, obviously they know something.
They also sent a small bottle of some blood pressure medication. This is bad.
I am worried.
What do YOU think I should do.
NO. NO. N000000000! I have not tried it yet, though somebody else did.
Having spent 64 years making sure not to mess my brain I am not sure I am going to try anything now — especially as my brain is entitled to its slow decline. I never did drugs because I did not want anything interfering with my brain. So, why would I try this?
Search on ‘brain’.

It is so easy to think and believe that ‘ringing in the ear‘ is all in the ear.
Alas, it is NOT so.
So, please check the above if you suffer from tinnitus.
Knowing that it is brain/CNS related may help you.
All the best.
I don’t take Lyrica BUT I am very familiar with it.
My latest book will be on ‘Central Pain Syndrome‘ (CPS) and Lyrica is one of the most used drugs to treat CPS.
The generic name for Lyrica is Pregabalin.
IF you are taking Lyrica/Pregabalin you should Google ‘pregabalin synapse’ — where a synapse is a key component of the nervous system.
This a HEADS UP because many of you may not have realized this.
IF you are taking Lyrica/Pregabalin and feel that your ‘head’ is no longer ‘feeling right’ …. this could be it.
