Marvelous ‘Marvin Hagler’ — I Had No Idea That He Lived (At Least Part-Time) In New Hampshire.

I can’t claim to have been a fan. I knew of him & had seen a few of his fights. I got hooked on boxing, in the mid-1960s, when I was a (pre-)teen thanks to Cassius Clay (as he then was). I was a HUGE fan of his & avidly watched all his fights (& in the late 1960s that sometimes was a challenge since I did NOT have ready access to a TV (even a black-&-white one)). Consequently the only boxing I initially followed was (super) Heavyweight. All other classes looked uninspiring & I thought there was way too much flailing around. Hence, why I never got around to following Marvelous ‘Marvin Hagler’.
That said I would have liked to have met him. Bought him a drink or two. IF I knew he lived in Bartlett I would have gone up & discovered where he hung out.
I heard, yesterday, as the sad news of his ‘early’ death was announced’ that he was from & associated with Massachusetts. Well, I did some research. He sure was born in MA.
That he lived in NH may need clarification. He did own a house in Bartlett. That is true. But, he also owned a house is Milan, Italy — & his current (second) wife is Italian. So, I am not sure whether he lived in NH full-time. Well, that is now academic. He does not, alas, live anywhere. Shame.
