I Ordered An ‘Atoll’ 11′, Army Green Inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board (iSUP) (Opting Against iROCKER).

This is what I got.

The picture that SOLD I.

Once I came to the final conclusion that a 11′ rigid board was not going to be practical to lug around, it had to decide between the Atoll and iRocker.

Yes, I looked at others, but I soon came to the conclusion, after a TON of research, that these two, in my price range, were the only two contenders. Then, it was a question of deciding between the two and I had to do a LOT of reading between the lines when it came to ‘impartial’ reviews. From everything I can see the Atoll is a more studier board, on all counts, and when inflated to 15psi it is said to be real rigid. The above picture that I saw a number of time, including in a video, was the clincher. I want an inflatable that feels as rigid as can be and Atoll seems to be that.

It is also superlight. 19 pounds when inflated. My old board weighed over 50 pounds. So, this meets my needs real well.

Also like the fact that it comes with a Universal Fin Box which does not lock you into one proprietary band.

I was not taken in my iRocker’s two-barrel pump. I was going to get an electric pump anyway (and I did) and Atoll’s 2-way high-pressure hand pump got good reviews.

I was also more impressed with the (supposedly) very light paddle that came with the board.

Overall, the Atoll, per my diligent evaluation, was a better buy, more board (and better kit) for your buck.

So, I ordered one today, from Amazon.

I was told I had to get a geen. Now green is my favorite color so I can’t complain. But, the Atoll sand colored board looks real spiffy too.

I should have the board my this weekend.

Yes, over the coming weeks you will hear all about it. Promise.

Wish me luck.

Meredith (New Hampshire) in the ‘Summer’ is always good for an impressive showing of flowers — and that is certainly the case in 2019 despite this crazy Spring we are having.

Meredith, today, was exquisite. All these flowers and the huge display of public art. WOW.

Many of these flowers were at Giuseppe’s — where we, of course, ate, as we invariably do.

If you have not been of late, PLEASE do yourself a favor (and treat) and visit.

I kid you NOT, Meredith (New Hampshire) is getting more beautiful and chic by the month. Each time I visit, which these days is about few times a year, Meredith has more art, more artistic stores and just a air of elegant sophistication. Wow. I lived in Meredith 1997 to 1999. It was nice then, on the upswing BUT nothing like it is now. If it was, I would never have moved.

Hands down, Meredith is NOW the MOST ATTRACTIVE of the Lake Winnipesaukee towns — Wolfeboro nowhere close. Alton, where I live, has to be the distant last.

But, I will go further. Meredith looks even better than Dartmouth or Portsmouth.

If you have not been of late, PLEASE do yourself a favor (and treat) and visit.

Eat at Giuseppe’s as we always do — and, of course, did today.

My ‘Fitness Age’ Is 19-Years Less Than Actual, 3-Months After Knee Surgery (& 6-Weeks On Crutches).

by Anura Guruge

This is per my Garmin MARQ Explorer, which I wear 24×7.

I had my quadriceps tendon repair surgery,
at ‘
Frisbie Memorial Hospital‘ —
performed by Dr. Charles Blitzer
of ‘Seacoast Orthopedics
on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

There was no pain to talk about
— throughout, from surgery to now.

I am 65-years old, 66 in September. So, this reading today chuffed me up no end, especially since I am still in recovery from major knee surgery. Just 7-weeks ago I was still on crutches. I still walk with a cane (since it helps, though I can walk without one).

Yes, no question, the knee surgery spurred me to new heights. My VO2 Max was ~36 before surgery and I was nearly 20 pounds heavier! Yes, I lost weight while recovering — mainly by totally revamping my diet. That helped. I have only run once after surgery — and that was last week. I ran 3 miles with 800′ of elevation carrying 11 pounds in weights. Felt a few ‘tinges’ in the knee was decided to lay off running for another few weeks. Walking at least 3.5 miles a day and then making sure to clock at least 10K steps a day. Today I did 16K. So, it all helps.

I am happy. Would have preferred not to have busted my quad tendon. But, it was a wake-up call.

So, there is hope … SMILE.
