Have A Thoughtful ‘Good Friday’ 2019; It Is Not A Day For Rejoicing.
Easter, though Americans do not appreciate it, is an unique ‘yin-and-yang‘ holiday — the only one of its kind in Christianity.
You have ‘Good Friday’ and ‘Easter Sunday’. In the U.S. ‘Good Friday’ isn’t even a Federal holiday — though, in reality, one could argue that in terms of Christianity is a very important Holy Day.
Though a bona fide holiday, it would be wrong to consider it a day to be happy. So, the greeting: ‘Have a Happy Good Friday‘ is wrong, even offensive. Good Friday is a day for contemplation. Easter Sunday is the day to be Merry.
So, I will just wish you a ‘Thoughtful Good Friday 2019’ and point out that it is indeed a holiday in the Guruge household — since I do not believe that one can ever have too many holidays.

“Good Friday” Is A Holiday …
At least in the Guruge household in New Hampshire.
I work all holidays, whether it is Christmas or Thanksgiving, so holidays per se have little meaning to I — other than the gluttony and the presents.
But, NO HOMESCHOOLING! I am giving her a break to her intense delight.
Other than the U.S., in every country I have lived in, viz., Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), France & the U.K., Good Friday & Easter Monday have been holidays.
So, it is only fitting that I propagate the custom over to here.
Happy Easter.

The Picture Of The Day (Canon EOS RP) + 6 Also-Rans — April 18, 2019 (2nd Batch).
MY Queen, Elizabeth II, Nearly 93, Looks STUNNING & Resplendent In Yellow, On Maundy Thursday, In Windsor.
On what was a gloomy day, both in terms of weather and news (yes, the flaccid Mueller report), this picture MADE MY DAY.
Aren’t we so lucky to have this Queen (and I will confess, with some embarrassment, that I was never a Royalist in my youth). And the U.S. has Trump. Smile.
The word that immediately came to mind was ‘resplendent’. I see that ‘radiant’ is what the media has opted. Either way she just looks GREAT.
Well, it is Maundy Thursday. This was at St. George’s Chapel, in Windsor — which I have visited a number of time.
Just wanted to share this with YOU, hoping that it might brighten up your day too. Enjoy.

Native Americans Reference The ‘Notre Dame’ Fire To Draw Attention To Destruction Of Their Sacred Lands.
A good and valid point. I am glad that they are making it. They need all the help they can. Notre Dame is already getting BILLIONS of dollars in aid when the poor Native Americans just get kicked in the teeth. Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
