My 1st “PhotoShop”: Before and After — See What You Think.

by Anura Guruge

As I proudly point out daily in my “The Picture of the Day” post, I do NOT believe in post-processing (i.e., ‘Photoshopping’).

To I, the pleasure and challenge of taking pictures is to capture what I can to the best of what I can — given the equipment I am using. It is like my running. It is test of my abilities. A discipline. Altering reality after the event has NO appeal to I — since that is not what real-life is all about.

Anywho … I have a friend who urges me incessantly that I should Photoshop — as he does with all of his pictures. Actually I have two friends like this, though the other does not ‘urge’ me to do as he does.

Well, I took this picture (i.e., the ‘Before’) yesterday, at the ‘Wolfeboro Inn‘, at a breakfast meeting. It was the simple table arrangement and the white/gray is the table cloth. It was a round table and there was probably 10 people seated around it — including my ‘Photoshop friend’. I too the picture with my Google Pixel 2 and I don’t think anybody even noticed. I liked it. I was THRILLED with it. To I, it could not be bettered.

But, for the heck of it I asked my friend to Photoshop it. He did so, GLADLY, in seconds.

Well, I knew I could better him — though I do NOT have ‘Photoshop’ or even an equivalent since I don’t need them — and will not use them. So instead, I used Photoshop.

What do YOU think? I hope YOU like my ‘Photoshop’ better. {Smile}

The BEFORE.

The original taken by I.

The AFTER (i.e., Photoshopped) by my friend.

These were his comments: “Here is my Photoshop modifications.  Your flower was dark around the center and brighter around the outdside.  I much brightened the center and increased contrast there. See if you think it is an improvement.”

MY AFTER. “Photoshopped” in Powerpoint.

I really hope YOU like my AFTER.

Good news, I do NOT plan to do anymore photoshopping. This was enough.
