Chinese New Year 2018 — From The Perspective Of Trains In China ‘Ready-to-Roll’.

by Anura Guruge

China is expecting 390 million people to travel by train over the 2018 “Year of the Dog” New Year period — that started ‘yesterday’.

That is 65 million MORE PEOPLE than the ENTIRE U.S. population.

Just think of that. Makes the so called Thanksgiving travel crush seem rather tame.

Yes, they have the rail system to cope with this PLUS a huge fleet of genuinely high-speed trains. We equate Japan with high-speed bullet trains but it is CHINA rather than Japan that currently has the fastest bullet train — a train capable of travelling 210 mph!

So, take a second to marvel.

Happy New Year.

Fitbit Sent Me This “Hot Air Balloon” — What Are They Trying To Tell Me?

by Anura Guruge

That is NOT in a lifetime! Jesus wept. A lifetime. This is why I don’t like Fitbit. They are NOT too bright.

According to their APP I did 253 in 7-days last week. I have done 225 floors in 4-days this week. That, per my math, is 478 floors in 11 days — 43.45 floors a day. So, I would do 2,000 steps every 46 days.

So, are they telling me that I have only lived for 46-days.

Stupid Fitbit!

People With Interesting Names: “Erica Houskeeper” of “HappyVermont.com”

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE. An e-mail from “Revels North”.

Click to access her Website “HappyVermont.com”.

I first saw it, in a flash, on an e-mail I got from “Revels North” (first image above). I read it, subconsciously, with the ‘e’ inserted and thought “Wow, what an interesting name“.

I saved the e-mail because I wanted to research the name. When I went back I discovered that there was NO ‘e’ BUT it sure looks and sounds like it did. I am not sure how they pronounce it.

I, of course, Googled it. Much to my surprise and chagrin I couldn’t find what it means or where it came from — though I will confess I did not spend much time.

I, however, discovered that Erica is not alone and it could be a married name. There is an actor with that name — on IMDb.com.

I think it is German but I could be wrong. German for that duty is haushälterin.

I am going to send her this link and ask her whether she can help me with her name. I think it is neat. I like it.

Taking Selfies My Way — Part XXIII, ‘Cinemagic’, Portsmouth, NH — Valentine’s Day, 2018.

by Anura Guruge

Second time at the ‘Cinemagic’, Portsmouth, NH — in a month! Last time was January 15, 2018 when we went to see “Paddington 2“. Then today was when we went to see “Peter Rabbit“.

They have big mirrors and the men’s room is inevitably empty.

Fourth time taking selfies with the Google Pixel 2 phone I got for Christmas 2017.

“Warren’s Lobster House”, Kittery, Maine — Reflections Of The Sign.

Main Sign — head on, at 8pm at night.

Reflections in car windows and edge on …

We — Teischan & I in particular — like Warren’s. Our 3rd time there this year in 6-weeks and it is ~40 miles from home.

Well tonight was Valentine’s and we headed there, straight away, after going to see “Peter Rabbit“.

I like taking pictures of their sign — as some of you may have noticed. Well this was the third time I did so.

But, tonight I noticed it reflected off cars. So, I took some of those reflections and a side-on shot.
