It was another good day, BUT boy was it cold, especially so in the morning. Low 20°F (-7°C) with a strong, incessant breeze. I got there at 8am and we started skiing at 9:15am. By 11am I had to come in because I was cold and had lost feeling in my fingers though wearing ‘good’ (but old) skiing gloves. The ‘kids’ were already in for lunch — so that was OK. It was 10 – 15°F colder than it had been the prior Thursday — BUT we all knew that that was exceptional.
Despite the cold (and yes, there are many (albeit much younger (and often much fatter than I)) would consider 20°F for skiing just fine) it was a GLORIOUS day. Blue skies and the sun beating down. After lunch, the breeze dropped and it was quite nice.
Gunstock had done a great job grooming SOME of the trails. And coming down those were FUN. Hard, tight packed — but not frozen — piste. Loved that. Some trails were left — intentionally I assume — ungroomed and the snow was slushy and harder to work.
But, we had fun. Had to stop at 1:35pm since the buses leave close to 2pm (though I bring Teischan back home with me). We did a fair amount of skiing. The kids did the Summit to bottom at least 3 times — maybe 4. I did it one extra time.
It was good. Sorry about the out of focus pictures. That is the Google Pixel 2. Guess taking pictures of Teischan skiing down — while I am on a chairlift going up is just a tad too much motion.
