Free Flight By Humans Is Now 234-Years Old — Thanks To The French Montgolfier Brothers.

The very first untethered flight by a human took place, on the outskirts of Paris (France), yesterday (i.e., November 21), 234-years ago, i.e., November 21, 1783.

So free flights by humans is now 234-years old. That is impressive.

The first human tethered flight, performed by the younger brother, Jacques-Étienne Montgolfier (6 January 1745 – 2 August 1799), took place just under a month earlier.

I am a great fan of the Montgolfier brothers and their hot air balloons — having always known their pioneering status in the field of aeronautics. I just to have a pair of real neat, ceramic cufflinks featuring one of their balloons.

I thought it was important for us to commemorate this great event in human history.
