Click to ENLARGE and read here. I annotated this image … Wikipedia:

The stuff of legends. The stuff that I, as a boy, grew up on — per the glorious British heritage.

Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery. What a MAN. He and Winston Churchill. What more could you ask for in terms of heroes.

El Alamein. It was so important in history that the Viscountcy given to Monty, in 1946, was called ‘Alamein’ — despite it being a town in Egypt.

Exactly 75-years ago.

I will raise a glass of red today to Monty and this decisive battle and give thanks.

Field Marshal Bernard Law Montgomery,
1st Viscount Montgomery of Alamein, KG, GCB, DSO, PC, DL

One of my GREAT heroes. I paid him the ultimate compliment that I can.
I named a Golden after him … as I had done with Winston & Ulysses.
