Took all these pictures, close to home, when Teischan and I walked the dogs around 5:15pm, this evening. I needed her help because I knew I would be taking a few pictures. A couple are from our yard — in passing. The others are from our road and on Prospect Mountain Road. Maybe tomorrow I can again venture further afield. All UNTOUCHED. Straight out of the camera.

“Monty Python’s Flying Circus” Premiered This Day 48-Years Ago On the BBC; October 5, 1969.

Though I had just moved to London (from Paris) I cannot say I saw the first episode when it aired. I was at a border, at a boarding school, viz. Mill Hill, and we did not have access to TV! Yes, I had a very deprived childhood (which will explain a lot).

Of course, I like the “Flying Circus”. Definitely my type of humor. In later years, when I did have ready access to TV, I would make a point of watching it. Plus, I have seen many of the reruns though I would be lying if I said I have seen all 45 episodes.

John Cleese once gave me a huge bear hug, looked into my eyes and asked me if I was “OK”! That was special. He was (and still is) a HUGE man in every way. This was at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, in London, the ‘Holy of the Holies‘. He like I is a HUGE cricket fan (and again, I have no option but to use that word). It was between the Mound and Tavern Stands at Lord’s. I always got tickets for the Mound Stand — IF it was not a Middlesex Game. [If it was, I, as a member, sat in the Pavilion.] John and I, quite literally, ran into each other — and given that he towered over me (in height (as well as stature)) it was like walking into a brick wall. I staggered backwards. He caught me, held me, uprighted me and checked I was OK. I knew who he was right away. Had the presence of mind to say: “I am fine John. Thank you.” We then went our merry ways. That being how cricket fans are. It is a very gentlemanly sport.

So, anywho … 48-years.

Steve Jobs Died This Day 6-Years Ago — Wow! It Was Just October 5, 2011.

Still seems hard to believe that he is not here!

I think Steve would have had lot to say (and do) IF he was around today — given that the iPhone, that he wrought, has been key to so much of today’s social climate. The iPhone has changed the trajectory of human civilization — and I, for one, am not sure whether it was for the better.

Notwithstanding, we all owe a huge debt to Mr. Steve Jobs. He was an exceptional man in so many dimensions.

I miss Steve.

Just 6-years ago. Time flies.

Bob Geldof (Of ‘Live Aid’ Fame) Was Born This Day 66-Years Ago –> Happy Birthday ‘Sir’ Geldof, K.B.E.

I just happened to stumble upon this serendipitously and I am GLAD.

Of course I knew him from “I Don’t Like Mondays” and “Do They Know It’s Christmas?

But, it was watching “When Harvey Met Bob“, (2010 movie), that gave me a whole new appreciation of him. Great man. Has done good.

Of late I have really got hooked on his “The Great Song Of Indifference” (above). I have been using it as background music while working on my latest book. That always means the song is special and I will always think of it when I think of the book.

“CarGurus”, The Car Buying/Selling Portal, Is Scheduled To Have An IPO ~October 12, 2017.

by Anura Guruge

Click image (which I think is NH) to access their Website/Portal.

Pretty decent introduction to IPO in “Xconomy.com”. Click image to access original.

They advertise heavily on Willow TV — on which I watch my daily cricket. Hence my familiarity with them. The ads and their message seems pretty compelling. I have yet to use them. No car buying plans in the near future (I hope).

Plus, I like their name! {Smile}

I then saw that they were up for an IPO — next week, the tentative date, next Thursday, October 12, 2017. The price is anticipated to be around $14 (i.e., same as Roku).

They are profitable and that might make them unusually attractive.

Fidelity is not offering any IPO shares. Damn (not that I would get any).

I am going to keep an eye on this IPO. This one could be v. interesting.

These, alas and alack, are not from our yard. I had to drive about 3 miles to capture these. They were all in one ‘wet area’ grove. I hadn’t been past there in a year BUT had a hunch. It paid out. The sun was setting and hitting the foliage nearly horizontally. Plus, I used the ‘High Dynamic Range’ setting on my Sony a7 II to get the maximum color saturation. Mainly reds. Not that much orange — at least not yet. Enjoy.
